Well, yesterday the 8th march it was pancake day. About a week or two before this date i went to my local convinence store and purchased 3 boxes of pancake mix. The mixture is so cheap to buy as this is a really really cheap shop. I do like to have pancakes but just not too often. Out of the misx i could make about 4 decent sized pancakes. I always make sure that i add a little bit of sugar, not too much as im not a big lover of sugar. I wouyld never add things like lemon juice or even chocolate spread or any type of syrup. So, have you made any pancakes recently? What do you put on your pancakes??

oh yes. i made plenty of mix as my kids love pancakes too. i have them with sugae and lemon, though i dont put too much sugar on for the kids. i do like them with chocolate and cream but i never make them. i dont like savoury pancakes as i feel pancakes should be sweet.

Aaah, so someone else did remember the pancake day, . Fromthe sounds of it, it seems both you and your kids love pancakes. Glad that you restrict the amount of sugar that you put on them for the kids. I could never have lemon on mine as i hate the taste of it, i also make sure that i hardly put any sugar on my son's pancakes. I am not a lover of cream and don't like chocolate on my pancakes even though i do love chocolate. POancakes should really be sweet, just not too sweet. Did you buy a load of mix in, or just enough for pancake day or did you just make all your pancakes from scratch? Mine was by a ready made mix as i don't really have the time to make them from scratch. Thankyou so much for your response to the topic.

i was shocked that they changed it to march as its alwasy in february. i made the mixture from scratch as i always have the ingredients in so why pay more. it doesnt take long to make from scratch amd its just the same as packet mix.

Yes, they did change the month to march which also confused me a little, . I am not sure why the date got changed though. I have never really tried to make the mixture from sratch, guess it is partly because i possibly don't have much spare time on my hands aswel as the fact that i would not know where to start. I never really have bothered to read the ingredients of anything. But even with the ingredients it still does not tell you how much of each item you need, i find a packet mix cheap and quick and easy really.

I like pancakes too but not with chocolate syrup.
It seems messy.

hi beautyqueen26,
Pancakes can be great, but i would not have them as often as many people do. I would only add a little bit of sugar on mine though. (I have seen people have the chocolate syrup on theirs, it does look so sickly and they really do pour the chocolate on. Thankyou so very much for your response to this topic.

I have never tried the frozen ones, although a friend of mine recently bought some of these. i have never tried blueberries before, i guess it would be good to just add something different, just to see what it is like and if it goes well together, it is far better than just having the same thing year in year out. I may try something different next year rather thanm having the same basic thing all the time, will be good to experiment, also with things like blueberries it would be a great way to get more fruit in both me and my son. Thankyou so much for your response.

I'm not a huge fan of pancakes, but they are something that I like to enjoy from time to time. My absolute favorite thing to have on top of pancakes is candied strawberries. That is something that I learned to love when I was younger and we used to take vacations in Gatlinburg and one of the restaurants down there had the best strawberry pancakes. When I make them at home I will use regular baking mix with a little oil and an egg and instead of using milk I will use Lemon Lime soda, it gives it a good taste and also makes the pancakes lighter.

Pancakes aren't really a big thing that i like, but as it is just once a year when we have them then this is enough for us really. I guess i must be really boring as the only thing i put onto my pancakes is a little sugar, i have never put anything else on them, maybe next year when i have them again i should experiment a little more and add something like fruit to them. I ahve heard from other members that they are easy to make but i have always stuck with buying the mixture in, maybe i should try to set more time aside to make my pancakes from scratch, i could get my son to help, im sure he would love to make a mess. Thankyou so very much for your response to this topic.

I have to admit that I do not know what pancake day is. But I do love pancakes. I'm having pancakes for supper tonight. Sausage gravy with scrambled eggs, followed by pancakes with butter and syrup. Nothing fancy, just breakfast for supper. We really enjoy breakfast food at just about anytime.
I don't really ever do anything special with pancakes, maybe a different flavor of syrup or add berries to the batter. Never tried chocolate with pancakes, don't think I would like it. Sounds too much like dessert. I do love dessert, just not chocolate pancakes
I do like a little lemon juice added to the batter, it gives it a little extra lightness and tiny bit of tang! Not too much or it will be ruined.
I like to have some crispy fried bacon with my pancakes. It can sit right there on the plate, close to the pancakes so that when the butter and syrup are poured on it gets all over the bacon I don't often like for my food to touch but this is one of the few times it really works. Can't eat this too often though... really bad for my body but well worth it every now and then

I do not know if pancake day is just here in my country (united kingdom), or if it is worldwide. i just like to put sugar on the pancakes that i make, but i think i soon will be trying them with fruit on in the future. I only ever have them once a year so it would be good to experiment with them a little bit really. Never really thought of putting things like bacon with it but i do love my bacon. i won't ever use butter as i don't really like it, ieven when i make myself a sandwich i never use butter, i would rather have it dry. I like to enjoy my panckaes after having my tea, they are great to have. Thankyou so very much for your response to this topic.

I made pancakes for my boyfriend and me yesterday. Both of us together ate 15 pancakes :).We ate them mostly with chocolate, but some of them I made in the oven and ate them for lunch with ham, eggs, mushrooms, corn, pickels, yellow chease and melted chease, with a sauce of mayonnaise and milk and lemon juice. They were so tasty we almost passed out tiredof eating.Pancakes are something I rarely cook so he is always very happy when I do and try to eat as much as possible.

You both ate 15 pancakes? wow, did the two of you not have anything else to eat? . Wow, you really do fill your pancakes with a load of stuff, how big were they? I don't really like the combination of the pancakes and chocolate together. However, the pancakes with the things like the ham, eggs, mushrooms, pickels, cheese and mayonaise really really does sound so very tasty. I guess that when you make them you must finish them off, if you rarely make them then they taste all that better, don't you think? thankyou so much for your response to the topic.
