How do i make a valid epub file?

I want to publish a ebook on lulu and it says it needs to be a valid epub file I am not shure how to do this i have dwonloaded some programs that supposbly generate it to a valid ebpub file but when i go go to validate ot does not work im not great with things like and i need simple instructions please helppppp

Hello babylucy, Personally, I convert and check my files with online tools : you have always the best converters in their last version available, and you can even convert a file with your phone. I create my files with Open Office and export them in PDF. The advantage of the last version -- 3 and up -- of Open Office is that it creates native PDF files. I convert the PDF to epub here : http://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-epub Then I upload the epub file to an online validator here : http://threepress.org/document/epub-validate Files are checked with epubcheck.
