Dear all...
M.S.Dhoni has been quite strange with a lot his decisions. I hope that you all remember a time when Yuvraj was over weight, and he was "never" performing with his bat...Dhoni kept Yuvraj in the team for about some 30 games more before he was finally dropped. Well Dhoni's explanation was that he trusted Yuvraj (Even when his potbelly was showing from under his shirt) (:P).
We all agree to the fact that Yuvraj is talented. But when he took his place for granted and became complacent, he started to under perform. Finally Yuvraj got dropped. The same scenario is happening now with Piyush Chawla.but at least Yuvraj was talented. The same cannot be told about Chawla, when Dhoni had better options like Amit Mishra, and Prgyan Ojha available at his disposal.
Dhoni keeps persisting with Chawla even after not performing so far. When Dhoni was asked, he said that Ashwin is mentally more tough and can perform when ever required, and that Chawla needs more practice. I believe, the tournament being the World Cup, one should always play the mentally tougher candidate. Sreesanth and Nehra have at least been given chances to play. Ashwin is yet to play. Then one wonders, why is Ashwin even in the squad???
The time has come to be serious in this world cup. From now on, all matches are big. I hope Dhoni gets his bowling attack correct. Team India has a good enough batting line up. I hope Dhoni goes with six batsmen and five bowlers and trust the batsmen to do their job. And hopefully Ashwin is in the playing eleven instead of Piyush Chawla..

I dont think Dhoni will keep stop playing Chawla , many predicted earlier that he will stop playing Ravindra Jadeja after every poor performance but Dhoni gave same excuse that he needs more time , same is the case with Chawla .A guy plays his last match in 2008 and team India who is been experimenting since two years for getting best combination in world cup and suddenly this guy who has done nothing much in domestic cricket or anywhere else comes in the line up after a long gap and he is playing as main spinner in Indian conditions where strength of India is supposed to be spin .In 2008 he was doing the same mistakes which he is doing now , that is bowling 3 bad balls average in an over and he was dropped in 2008 , he hasn't learned anything since then , and Dhoni expects that he will learn in some 3-4 matches suddenly .Indian team was experimenting on the name of world cup since two years and guess what they are still experimenting. If Dhoni wanted a leg spinner in the side he could have given 10-15 games to Chawla or Amit mishra or anyone else before world cup.Dhoni persisted with Jadeja in two t20 world cups and many ODIs , he never cared about ,what fans are saying , experts are saying and India is losing matches because of Jadeja, so no matter how much we discuss this i am sure Dhoni will keep playing Chawla against SA,WI and in knock out games too,i dont see Ashwin coming in the team until Bhajji is injured .

Dear Grvdubey,
The whole world realizes what you just said. All but one. One person disagrees who is the most important of all. Dhoni. He has done the same mistakes with Yuvraj, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and now he is doing it with Piyush Chawla. He persists with people he has a personal liking. I do not know if he really wants to win the World cup.
I guess he is just showing that he has a lot of patience...Way to go Cricketing Gandhi..(:P)

Actually I do not have anything against Piyush in this. I think Dhoni wants a leg spinner in the team which is fair enough. But what is shocking is that instead of experimenting with him before the world cup, they brought him directly into the world cup and are trying to build his confidence during the world cup. World cup is not a place to experiment, but a place to perform and that is why I am a bit disappointed with what Dhoni is doing here.
Cheers!
Ram

Dear Ram,
I agree with the fact of having a leg spinner in the team. But why Piyush Chawla, and that too out of nowhere???. Amit Mishra would have been a better choice any day to Piyush Chawla. If Dhoni wanted someone who cold turn the ball away from the right handed batsmen, then, left arm spinner Pragyan Ojha was also there for the disposal.
I do agree with you on the fact that, experimenting in the World cup is a baaaaad idea....!!!

Dear Balu, the total blame can't be put on Dhoni for getting Yuvi in the team as it is a decision taken by the selection committee. Though Dhoni has a right o say whom he would like to have in team, he certainly can't get in or out a player whom he likes or dislikes without the consent of the selectors. Yuvraj is such a destructive batsman on his day that no can match his class and ability at times. Now that he is among runs and wickets as well one should hope he builds on from here and brings home the cup that counts. Anyway the point you put forth regarding Ashwin is one I totally agree even though he is strong that doesn't mean he will perform without match practice. He sure be given a chance as Chawla is one who only flights the bowl even in the ultimate overs when the batsmen is looking to hit any ball thrown at him. Ashwin can also be better than Chawla with the bat. One thing more is about Harbhajan who lately has turned into a run saving bowler than a wicket taker. Rare will one see him picking more than one wicket. Even part timers can do better than him. He fails with the bat too on a regular basis. So I really feel that he should be made aware of the situation and asked to prove his claim on a seat in the team. The most important thing is winning and India should aim to that only.

Dear Xpertcomments,
Yuvraj is and always has been a talented batsman. But there was a time when he was not performing (for whatever reason). He was still part of the team for about 30 odd games. Now after getting dropped, he has made a come back and "touch wood", he is performing. He is performing now, because I believe, he realizes his worth and his duties to the team and his country.
Now coming back to Chawla. If a bowler cannot perform against the minnows, I do not see him performing against the bigger teams like South Africa, Australia etc. Showing faith and being a bit partial is different. I frankly do not recall any match winning performances from Chawla yet. And he has been given enough and more chances. I also believe that the World cup should not be used as a testing ground for players. It should have been done before the tournament.
As far as Harbhajan is concerned, the poor guy has been bowling well. Of course the wickets column might not suggest so. But a bowler will pick up wickets only if pressure is maintained from both ends. But Chawla has been leaking runs and the pressure created by Harbhajan is relieved.
I do agree that India should concentrate on winning. And I sincerely hope that they win the Cup.

I think he love healthy people around him because he is also healthy guy :D lol
Now serious thing, I think some times we (fans)dont show passions and want to change every one who perform a little bit lower or get caught into bad spell which is not fair I think. If Dhoony is doing this than I appreciate him because some times one player who can perform real match changing performance need little support.
When someone is doing good every single person like him its natural but the same person's a single mistake never forgivable why?

Dear Islooboy,
I do agree with the fact when someone is doing good, people tend to forget his short comings and all that stuff. But when it comes to Piyush chawla, I beg to differ. If he was that good, he would have shown glimpses of it. But when the team has better options, why not go with it, especially when the options are at one's disposal???

I want to know why Raina not given a chance. He is a good player with all talents like good batting, good fielding and somewha bowling also. All the last matches he played was well performed and Dhoni likes him and he is great in scoring runs and hitting big shots and everyone likes him and I want to know why? he is not given an single chance in playing one match

Dear Gssgaa,
Suresh Raina is a good player. But the selectors were right to not play him. Yes, he did score some runs in the practice match before the world cup. But. in the series against South Africa, he failed to make any impact. In fact he gave his wicket away, where if he had stayed, India would have won more matches. He also underperformed against Newzealand. But one never knows, Dhoni might play him in the future World cup matches....
