Are you moving in with the furniture from the previous house? How much did you retain and intend to change. When moving to a smaller house, it is always advisable to sell or give away all furniture from the previous house except antiques or those with sentimental value, if possible start from scratch, buy furnitures solely for the new house then you won't be that confused

You need a love seat instead of a couch and light colors in that small sala room. Less is more; the more you have, the more cluttered it appears.
Congrats on your new house!

I think that the cheapest way to decorate any rooms is to buy a large cheap tub of white for the ceiling and a large tub or two of magnolia for the walls of emulsion.Where we live the council decorates using those colours all the time to get the job done really cheaply as well as easily.Magnolia will also go with any colour scheme that you have as well really nice.
