Today I got hooked up with wi-fi for the frist time. I have been using a DSL connetion with a ether net modem. before that, I had dial-up. I have had my laptop for a long while. Howerver I was not sure how wi-fi worked. I tried to connect to a wireless network but could not. Later my gf got a wireless router and she used while I used the wired conection. I had to have my computer servied this week and had the tecknation looked into my wireless moden and he fixed it so I could get wi-fi. I used wi-fi on my computer for the frist time today and I am using it now. It is great and I think I will use it from now on.
Do you have wi-fi? DO you like it? How long have you had it? Do you use it often?

We were about the first people in the neighborhood to have a wireless network
It works pretty good, except...
Well, even with the password protection, it seems to have a harder time staying connected than I think it should, and I have a harder time, even with my new computer, than the roomie, who is further away from the router connection.
Still, it means that much less wiring in a house that is already a snake pit of wires and last Sunday Tiffany from Time Warner found part of our problem and fixed it!

Thanks for the resoponse. that is cool that you are the frist in the neighborhood to get wi-fi. ours seems to work very well, I am not aware of any problems the the connection may have. I have not tried it in other rooms yet, I have a low battery life but long enough for a few trials. yes we have a snake pit of wires too, but that is with oiur tv,vcr, dvd, and sat. lol but there are a few wires with our computer connections.

I have been using wifi for four years now. I don't like using lan on my laptop. Laptop is for convenience as compared to a desktop because you can carry it anywhere.
I use my laptop almost 12-18 hours a day and my wi-fi router is on 24 hours a day. It only takes a break when i reboot it for 10 seconds.

Nice for you! I am planning to get a wi-fi connection soon because I can't stay in front of my computer all day to wait for my boss' messages. I have a wi-fi enabled phone so I can log in on my skype account anywhere in the house. Pretty good idea I think. :)

Wifi is a useful thing to have on a computer or internet enabled gadget while you're on the move, away from home...I'm just in the process of changing broadband providers, and my new one gives Me free access to a network of wifi hotspots all over the country,so I hope it's going to become even more useful for Me from now on!

Hi,
I've been using wi-fi for 4years now and I really like it. Good thing someone invented this technology because its simply amazing and hassle free. You can go around your house without worrying about tripping cables and can simply check your e-mails on your mobile phone or on laptop while at the kitchen or simply browse the web while sitting comfy on your sofa.

I use DSL wi-fi as well and I have to say its average. Since I like gaming I need a faster internet speed but I live in a rural area in a small town with only one internet provider and all they provide is dial-up and DSL, I want to be able to have fiber optic, so I am looking into that right now.

Hi and thanks for your response. Yes wi-fi does not work with a desk top only labtops as far as I know. I belive that was what labtops were desinged for.
