Welcomw to mylot
There are tons of those free and semi free thing, they are not reliable at all, in my view, Microsoft security is the best, i had tried most of the free versions, some of them seem to be virus themselves, the paiful part is they say, it removed xxx virus, not others, they can kill uour pc etc etc, buy the registered version for total protection..
Thanks for sharing
Cheers.
God bless you, have a nice day ahead.

I suppose you have to try different products to find out which one you are happy with. I used to use the free antivirus product AVG and this was ok but then I started using Norton 360 and I've very happy with this and this is what I will stick with indefinitely. It's not that expensive, it probably works out around £50 per year but when you are doing things like Internet banking then this is a recommended product.
If you go for Norton chances are you may be able to go for a free trial so that you can test it out for yourself. I scan my system once per week and everything is fine! I don't have any viruses or anything. Andrew

I have been using AVG lately and am very impressed with the program. Before AVG I used Norton Anti-virus. I have used Norton for many years and have always liked it. With financial times the way they are now, I had to switch to a free antivirus software, so I picked AVG after hearing a lot of good feedback about it.

Don't bother! Avast is a pretty decent free virus protection. I don't believe you have to upgrade at all. It works good for me without slowing down my whole computer like most virus protection does.

I have used more than five anti-virus based on the recommendation of other users, and partly influenced by the claims made by the vendors. The choice of the present anti-virus that I am using was based on the test results carried out by an independent lab.
So far it is the only free product that reaches a 100% score, blocking many intrusion types which are not detected by popular products.

If you are looking for free antivirus program then I would like to tell that Microsoft also have their own antivirus. It is Microsoft Security Essentials.
You can download it from Microsoft's website for free if you have a windows machine.
I have been using it on Windows 7 and I am happy with its performance. I don't know of XP or Vista but if you are having Windows 7 then I would highly recommend it.

Well i personally use free avast the only feature i like in the is boot time scan which many other free antivirus software doesn't have
what i do look in a anti virus program is that i only look fro two thin one it should have a
Real-Time Scanning
Anti-virus programs provide real-time scanning, which means the program is always on and checking for viruses as you perform tasks.
and
Website scanner
Avast has a website scanner which works good and has protected my pc many time i also use zone free firewall instead of windows firewall which is also good and gives me warning when i visit a site which is know to spread virus
apart from this avast do have some other scanner too but if i am going to buy a new anti virus i would definitely see that it has this two stuff in it
i have used kaspersky too and it is also a good antivirus much better than avast but its not for free as i use avast

I would suggest buying a professional program but if you are going to stick with free programs I would judge them based on how large their database is, and search around on search engines to see if people are satisfied. If they aren't don't use it. There really isn't too much else to go on, large database, satisfied customers, trustworthy company.

AVG or Norton is good. I used AVG for two years and never infected with any virus.(I don't know whether it is because I was using AVG or because I always have a good and healthy habit of using computer) I don't use anti-virus software for a long time, because they take so much system resources and somehow slow my computer down. Anti-virus software is necessary for most people, and using computer in a good and healthy way is important, too.

Now I use AVG internet security after yesterday I'm using avira, but I'm a bit disappointed using avira because my computer was still infected with the virus. and after I use AVG I am really impressed even thought the AVG in my opinion a bit fussy, but it's so good because my computer is completely secure. I think it's good you try AVG.
