Why do you think is favoritism common in all job? Does this mean that the favored ones are better than the others? For me, not all the time, they are better but because they know some of the highest position in the job, making them more favored. Even if they are lazy at work, they are still the favorites. Isn't it annoying? I do not want to be a favorite of my supervisors because I am their friend, but because I do good at work.

I have been working with different companies for seven years. As I observe, those people who has a very good interpersonal and communication skills easily gets promotion into top management. Communication skills play an important role in a corporate world.

Favoritism happens everywhere. It starts in school, maybe even as low as grade school, and continues all the way up until you die. That's just the way the world works right now. Obviously, just because they can kiss up to certain people doesn't make them the most qualified employee in the world. If you can out qualify the person, it shouldn't be too hard of a task to get a higher promotion. Of course, that takes work. It's all just part of human nature and some people just know how to take advantage of that and use it to get way ahead in life.

I'm not sure why some companies are like this. My daughter had to deal with it at her first job. Her manager favored certain workers that couldn't show up on time or do their job right. They couldn't even clean up afer themselves and she had to do it. In my jobs I only had to deal with sexism. My district manager beleived women shouldn't be in parts stores, that it was man's work. So I had to work twice as hard. But then again I dodn't let him give me any crap either. You gotta stand up for yourself.

It is unfair for employers to show favoritism among employess but sadly it does happen. We are usually not bothered by too much by this fact when we are the favored ones.
When we are on the other side of the coin, we are more bitter and judgmental about it. Employers should treat all of their employees the same when when they are doing the same kinds of jobs. That is only fair!

Some because they are really good for the company, some because they are good in kissing the boss' *ss one would say. Well, I don't like favoritism in work but it happens everywhere. So, I just mind my own work, do it well and beware of alert on anyone who wants to do me bad.

Some have their savvy ways of weaseling their supervisors. I guess the supervisors are vulnerable to that because it gets allowed.
I am with you I prefer to be liked for my efforts and loyalty.

People with a positive attitude are often favored for their energetic and outgoing personalities. People happy with their jobs are more productive. People with a less positive attitude can bring the morale of the entire work force down. All it takes is one bad apple. Favoritism exist everywhere. People with better looks are often favored over less attractive workers. Being qualified for your job is very important. Many people considers themselves qualified but end up not getting that promotion. Perhaps these people are shy or don't come off as intelligent. Men are more likely to ask their bosses for a raise. Women are less likely to speak up and fight for that position. Sometimes it comes down to sexism, classism, or racism. But mostly I think it comes down to butt kissing. You need to make friends in high places and that's how it has always been.

Favoritism was very frustrating, not only in work, sometimes in the home environment also exist favoritism. But, if nothing like this, it is better ignored. Better we work well, and trying not to make mistakes, and comply with all regulations. Liked or not, the important thing we have worked well and correctly.

This is true, and really happens with boss-employees.
That is why some companies do not hire people who are relatives or immediate family of the first employed or person in higher position to avoid such activity.
It is also true that some got higher positions because they know someone in senior positions either that recommend them, thu they don't deserved the said position.
Have a great day

Sometimes, not all the workers who do good at work are favored. Some workers never lated for work and always finished their assignments well and people don't dislike them, either, but they are just normal workers who not being favored by anyone. There is a interpersonal thing in work place, one is good at work doesn't mean he/she will be favored.
