In the world of top management, once dominated by men, now invades a new breed of managers---the women bosses. Studies reveal that men and women bosses can be equally effective, though in different context and environment. Typical female bosses tend to apply the participative approach, more mentoring and coaching, and being a role mode. Typical male bosses, on the other hand, apply the control-and-command tactics.
Personally, I prefer a boss who values me and my work. One who would nurture my skills and allow me to grow in the environment I'm in. Whether that boss is a male or female, I really don't care. To be honest though, I think I work well with female bosses.
What about you? Share your thoughts and experiences.

Hmmm. I think I want a female boss. not only because I'm a female. but also. I think female bosses are more efficient and hardworking than men. no offense. because most women are so dedicated with whatever they are on to. And they do it in style and grace. Now, in the modern world where women are just in the same level as men, everyone should appreciate and acknowledge that women have evolved from just being left at home cleaning the house, cooking and taking care of the kids into strong ones that can work and excel in whatever career they choose and not to be think of as the weaker species. we're stronger now and sometimes better than men in doing things. :)

I prefer both....it does'nt matter to me when it comes to gender what matters most is how a person professionally deals with the employees. Attitude matters most than gender for me.

Yes the male bosses always use control and command tactics while female use the participative and mentoring approach. For me ,I just care for my flexibility. I do my work and you pay me. No nonsense. I hated it when some female bosses over commanding and this troubles me until I went home. When I think of the time I can relax is fewer I get angry. I want to approach my boss and talk about it. But as you see I am a shy person I wouldn't do that. All I can do is respect my bosses and following their command. That's why I don't like to work in an office. Its like you are adopted by a person and that person never treats you good. I don't like this feeling.

I think I would prefer a female boss too. Currently all my bosses who I work and I report to directly are female. I love them because they help me not only in my work, but also in my career in general. Plus I get to talk to them about problems even if it's not related to my work. I also feel much closer to them, and I think I wouldn't be the same if I had a male boss.

Hi,
For me, it is actually the same to have
female or male boss, I don't have any specific reason on
them. As long as,they are a good boss, keen enough to
coach me and give me a chance to present myself in my
work,it is more than enough.
I did work with female and male boss before, and I have no
problem to liase with them. They treated me well and we
have a good working relationship.

I think I really dont care if I have a male or female boss. AS long as he is effective that is good enough for me. I had a very ineffective boss in my second real job and he was such a pain in the neck cause he was always pretending he is so good and he keeps on giving promises he never does. I am so over with that kind of boss.

The same with you, I prefer to find have a boss who can mentor me. I had been to several jobs and different bosses. My best mentor was a female. But I find ease dealing with male boss. Being female, it is easier to understand what the male boss needs and would not need much explanations. They just need outright output. I learn from them by observing.

In my very first job, i had a male boss . He was a very nice and understanding boss.
The other jobs that followed and my current job are all females . I can say that given the choice, i still would prefer a female boss. A female boss could relate to me in all aspects , being a female too.

If given a chance to choose a boss,
i prefer someone who knows how to value my skill and compliment my effort.
Someone who knows how to motivate the team/employee on how to excel more and bring out the best in them.
No gender preferences.
Have a great weekend

I prefer male boss for they are not as complicated as female boss. This far, in my working experience, when male boss gets angry, it will only for that moment, and at the next second, he will forget it already.
It is different with female boss that easily affected by others words. And women tend to play with their mind and easily put suspect on staffs.
What I like about male boss is also, they never care so much as long as your work is done well. Not like female one, who likes to nag all the time. :p

I would prefer to have a male boss, but that is probably because I've had bad experiences with female bosses. If a person is fair and truly provides leadership, then it shouldn't matter if the boss is male or female. But I've had female bosses who told me one thing, and told something much different to others. And I've been used by them to further their own career when they passed off my own expertise to her as her own expertise to someone else in order to look more competent than they were.
So, though I know that am biased by having been burned by females, I'd prefer a male boss since they tend to be more upfront and honest with me than females.

I have had bad female and male bosses. Male bosses are more straight forward. Female bosses are more for consensus building. Male bosses explain desired results and don't worry about procedures. Female bosses care about procedure and believe the procedure will get the result they seek. Male bosses will let you know exactly how you are doing and where you are with them. Female bosses will not tell you that they don't like you but make your life hell in hopes you will quit.

I have always felt better when my teacher or boss is a woman. Speaking with the men in clubs or on the street I feel free, but if I talk to the teacher or boss, I get embarrassed. But female-boss is more demanding for a man - the boss. But sometimes men are awful and bad boss. Each has its own pros and cons, everything depends on the person.

I prefer a female boss because she is friendlier and can make employees work well.
