Tragic Events- Do you truly understand the magnitude of it?

With the news of the tsunami today, it makes me wonder- do you feel for the people in Japan and others who were affected by the tsunami and earthquake? When you see the images on the news and online- do you really feel a connection to the events or are we so removed from events around the world that we understand it was a catastrophe and something bad happened but that's it? Can we truly understand how bad this event was?

I was in a store today, it was very sad when I heard a cashier and customer mentioned business might pick up because of what happened in Japan. I thought that was so sad.. I couldn't believe that would be what someone would be thinking!

That is disturbing that people would use this event as a way to make money. Humanity never ceases to amaze me.
