I've been watching the news all day about the earthquake and tsunami and it made me feel so surreal. (Sort of like the time 9/11 happened. Do you remembered that day?) How the water just drank up most of the coast, makes me realize how small we are. I felt numb about it all last night but when I heard the tolls this morning it hit me. As another human being, it's very overwhelming. But it's also amazing how video uploaders were still saved by the strong buildings they were in. Ever since the new millennium started... the sizes of the earthquakes in the world has been getting bigger.. and I have a feeling that it's just going to keep going up. Agree?
And I feel like a lot of historical events are being stored in my memory recently. Which are some recent historical events that have impacted you greatly?
I would say, death of Princess Di, 9/11, BP oil, the Chile Miners, Haiti/Chile/New Zealand earthquake, and yesterday are some of the ones that will be staying with me.

I think a lot of what we are suffering from is mass communication. The world has always been filled with these types of events, it just that in the last 50 years we have come to know more and more about them and in a much speeder manner. The more we study history the more we discover how human history is combined with earths' restless movements. The same with human events, it use to take years, if at all for information of wars and upheavels to reach around hte earth, now we know in a matter of mins.

Almost every year, a lot of tragedies are happening in the whole world and in my home country.
I will not forget 9/11, i was on holiday that time in Berlin, Germany when my friend told me early morning the news from the radio......this had a big impact on me as it affected my professional life.....that happened in September, October the following month, I'm supposed to fly to the US, but due to what happened I have to cancel my onward travel....so I went back home to the Philippines...that time I was working as a freelance tour guide for the German market...but due to the 9/11 incident, the whole world was afraid to travel, so the tourist arrival went very low....October is the start of the high season and i didn't get job assignments those days....I need to find another source of income...so I landed to be a hotel employee here in the gulf region....I went to doha qatar to join a 4star international brand hotel....that's where i start my hotel work.....I may sound selfish but this is what crosses my mind every time 9/11 is mentioned

My main one was 9/11. Although its cliche, it deeply impacted my life. For a period after 9/11 I was almost obsessed with helping out. I think the main thing that struck me about it was how unnecessary it was. Also how preventable and disastorous it was. This was probably the recent one that effected me the most.
