Hello Everyone,
Last Wednesday, me and my 2 yr old kid went to a mall to buy stuff. A member of a talent scout noticed my kid and asked me how old is he and answered him. He called his colleague and did a private conversation and went back to us. I was a bit nervous because I don't know them. When they went back they introduce themselves to me professionally and did presented me thier ID's. They are are from a talent company. So they asked me, if i would grab the opportunity for my child to be an endorser of a Kiddie milk brand (i will no longer mention the brands name). Told them though that i need to talk to my husband regarding this matter. and we'll just set for a meeting for our decision. And the night that day I told my husband, and totally he refused. A big NO!
If you are in this situation what would be your decision? Would you allow your 2 yr old kid to endorse and be paid for a milk brand? Everything is under a legal process and under a child's labor code in their agreement. We are scheduled to meet them on Monday.

You must be a proud mom and your son is adorable. He is already 2 years old and I think he is able to understand what is going on now. Maybe you can try asking him if he likes being on TV. I don't think this would influence his childhood at all as he will grow up very soon. He won't be a baby forever and anyway, it's only for one commercial. So, go for it!

Do you want your child to be in a commercial? do you thin your child is ready for such? since it might change his life. I believe your husband has reasons on why he refuses, maybe he wants your child to live a simple life of a child and no demands of such. How about you? if you want your child to be in a commercial? what is your purpose then? if you believe it will do him good and every thing is in legal terms then i believe you should also show your husband your reasons why and he will also show you his reasons why not. you both better sit down and lay your cards out. It is a big decision since it involves your child, it might do him harm and it might do him good.
Personally, i am not into such. i would rather have my child grow and have a simple life, i believe there are higher demands for such talents, but i know my child has one but i do not think i could sacrifice his childhood..for them to be able to run around and play..and with no demands of that kind of work. But if my child chooses to, i would also be there to guide him.

your thoughts are same with my husband. He wanted our kid to live a normal life and as much as possible have a private life....thanks....

Okay, so first of all, your kid is just too cute!! I can see why the talent scouts wanted him to be an endorser of a milk brand (he's just so perfect for it!).. I think you have to ask your kid, I mean, I know he's just 2 years old, but I think you will see if he actually want to do such things, I mean, does he like people? Is he like the entertainer during family reunions? If he is, this maybe something of a good experience for him. But if he is the shy type, then this may make him uncomfortable..
I hope this helps.

I guess it would be quite a comliment to have a talent scout see something special in my child. I'm not sure i would so eager to take a chance with this. I would want my child to have a childhood. Being discovered by a talent scout seems like it would tarnish that journey. It would be all about the money and poularity and childhood would fade away in the distance.

Hi thetigers,
Being in the industry, I can tell you that it can and cannot be an advantage. Perhaps your husband is afraid that your child would be exposed to too many influences involving the whole youth and media hypes. With regards to the decision as to why or why not, I suppose it has to be a mutual agreement between the two of you of course.
Just wanted to let you know that if you did decide that you research the talent scout and certainly have an attorney review any documents you sign. Some talents scouts will have hidden clauses in their contracts so please be aware.
Do not allow yourself to agree to their attorney agreements without you having your own representation. I say this only because of I have seen many get burned here in the US.
If all works out I do wish your son best of luck and that all works out, best of luck and maybe we will get to see him on TV!

I gave thier proposed agreement to our attorney, and everything is in legal he said. It would be a magazine footage and a short tv commercial.

I'd definitely agree with it. That would be a chance to make my kid famous. Opportunities like that don't come very often.

I understand why your husband said NO. Maybe he is concerned for your son's future. Some endorsers don't have time anymore for their studies, so they tend not to study anymore. I guess it's a NO for me also. For I want my child to have a better education first than have a job at 2. =)
Well, that was my opinion. Anyways, congratulations because your son is smart that's why they wanted him to endorse a milk.
