PAN card needs or not

Now according to SBI rule the PAN card is necessary for fix depositor. Every businessmen required PAN card. But in general life or in a small business it is useful or not if you know share your views. SBI doing the compulsory you know any reason behind it.
Dear friends in your country it is necessary or not.

Pan card is must for every bussiness man wven small business and employee. Pan card is use for identifying easily when someone paying taxes and also use to find if some business man paying tax correctly or not.

Ohhh yes now bank man said me even if you are not in job but deposit more than 50000 or 100000 then PAN card is required otherwise TDS will deduct from interest.
