Why is life so unfair

Good things happen to bad people while bad things happen to good people. I went to the market today and saw an old man who is carrying a sack of vegetables in his shoulder. I passed him a couple of times. He is carrying one sack to another delivering it to a stall in the market. He is obviously not suppose to be doing this especially with his age. He was struggling to walk and some people don't seem to even see him. I can't help but to watch him for minutes. They are just passing and bumping into him, they won't even say sorry or at least acknowledge that he is there walking with them. I don't know but I just felt so bad. I have been thinking about it for hours now. While the good people are suffering, the bad people are enjoying their lives in their big mansions. They were probably relaxing in their reclining chair and smoking their cigar while the old man was carrying the load. It makes me mad sometimes. The old man probably got only a couple of change for what he did. Not even enough to get by. Why is life so freaking unfair?

it is great you helped him, but what about tomorrow, or the days after? As mean as I have to be to say this, life is never fair. Life is what we make out of it. There are reasons beyond human comprehension, like- Why do good people die young? What is considered good? Why the bad people enjoy? Why did Japan get the biggest impact of the tsunami and not another place? Why this? Why that? It will never end. But know one thing. God is holy and righteous. He will judge each one of us when we die. So just be right with God. Trust Him. Treat others kindly. Be fair to others and yourself. Make a life, not a living.

I see your point but sometimes it's just so unfair. I think it's just human nature though to be concerned. If I will just shake it off then i think I am losing a part of me that makes me human. Speaking of Japan, I hope that everyone there will soon be safe.

For no reason, it just is. I often see people searching in the garbage cans outside my building. Sometimes I leave things for them, but I don't believe I can really make a difference. I once saw an old lady sharing some bread she found with a stray dog and there's a homeless man on my street who also shares his food with a dog. Rich people rarely have that kind of generosity.

The thing is I think we can all make a difference. I don't know if I am being an idealist or what but I really think so. I know, rich people will often give something to the poor when there is a camera or they get something in return. It's really sad.

Personally, I will never seem to understand this one as well. Many times anymore no one wants to step in and help someone who is struggling like this especially when they might seem to be the less fortunate. Honestly it does stop and make you go hmm, and hope one day the people just seeming to ignore them never are in the same boat as well. I think personally people are too busy to take time to notice and want to help and it is becoming a shame for sure.

Good and bad things happen to all of us... the gravity though is what we see most of the time. but then, i think life has its own way of making itself fair in some ways. some rich people maybe enjoying the physical things they have right now, but they can be bothered in their emotions... while poor people maybe having physical work as much as the old man you see but i hope that when he goes home, he goes home to a family that loves him, is eagerly waiting for him.. see? we have all these and life is not as bad as we see on the surface. we just have to look deeper... to realize what our eyes cannot see...

But I sometimes think that some people are just so lucky and most of the time, the lucky ones are the people who are already well off. I don't know. I just hope that he really have at least a house to go to. What if he's homeless?

I did help him. I gave him money and bread because there was a bread shop around the corner.

nothing is fair in this world. If everything is fair, we will never know the our value and worth. We will never learn the true meaning of life. i guess the best thing that you should do is not to think how fair and unfair life is, but how good are you in handling difficulties and obstacles in life. Never mind if others are rich, think that at least you live your life happy and contented. God has many reason why others suffer from diseases, struggling from life, homeless and poor, while others are rich and living in style, God has plan for everyone of us. don't feel so bad. do what you can and be at your best. life is too short so live to the fullest. Enjoy and be happy.

Life is like that. As we always say that like is a game. There are those who lose the game and there are those who win. These days, I guess the winner is the rich one which too obvious these days. I have watched a lot of documentaries about poor people and I can't help crying while watching them. I have seen this documentary about people in my country digging garbages of restaurant and sorting the food that has been in the garbage for them to eat. When I think of it, I also ask the same question you are asking. But yet, till now, it is so hard to answer. Some people are blaming our government because of corruption but if I think of it, we people in my country plays a vital role in letting this government officials stay where they are. So in my opinion, if we want change, let's start in ourselves.

There is no absolute fair in this world. We always say that God is seeing what we people on the earth are doing. So accept the truth, and fight for yourself.

If we all had it going good for us, would we see the difference? Yes, I agree that so many have it and so many hard working do not. It is sad to see some that have that don't even see those that are working so hard just to survive one day at a time. I have seen them and I will take the time to help when I am able to. Give food to those asking for a job on the streets, so they are able to get through the night. We have had some cry because someone cared enough to help. No I do not have much, in fact I live with my daughter now. IF it wasn't for her generosity, I would be wondering where my next meal would be coming from. We also have our problems to get through too. Somedays Life just doesn't seem fair, those of us that care, try to help. Sharing a Smile

I think it's so because Charles Darwin's rule also applies here: "The strong will survive and the weak will perish." It's one of the harsh truths you'll ever encounter.

What would have made this fair? Taking money from "rich" people to give to the "poor" man would somehow make the poor man better? Just how would that happen? Why shouldn't this man continue to do the same thing he had done for years just so you wouldn't feel bad about his conditions? Just exactly where did that rich man get his money? And who are you to decide how people can and should live? What makes the rich people bad and the poor people good. Life is what you make it. Poor people who are doing what they love to do - selling food they have raised - may be happier and live better emotionally than that rich man. Do we take the joy from the poor man and give it to the rich man so he will be happier? Fairness has more to do with letting everyone strive to achieve what they want instead of telling them how unfair the world is because they are not rich.

You know, there are things, occurrences, fates that gave meaning to appreciation, awakening, reasoning and acceptance. Those scenarios are merely objects or instruments of GOD or maybe of evil to touch the lives of others and with that the people may act to lead the way to GOODNESS as you help or to lead the way to SIN as you unmind. And so the force of good and evil is working on us definitely. We are being tested unknowingly using these people as instrument. We are affected because our conscience speaks for us to be helpful but usually as evil works using that man to support others with bad intentions or greediness as what is happening to those forced to beg by syndicate,we are stopped to help. It is not life that is unfair but the people itself, because we can help one another for life to be fair.

With this discussion, I can't help but remember my professor in college who told me and the rest of his students, "Who said life is fair? whether we like it or not life is indeed unfair." I surmise there's a grain of truth in what he said. As the saying goes, life is what we make it. So instead of focusing on the material things that one never had, we should be contented on what we have. Happiness is not defined on how much money we have, it's the feeling that whatever happens there will always be people who will love us despite of who we are.

In order to improve our lives, we must help others if we want to be helped ourselves. We have to take care of our world because the generations that are to come will not know which traits to look up to and will inherit those that are present in the environment. As there are people around our communities find that the acts of kindness will help our future generations, it is possible to keep our heads up and know that our future generations will have a happy and "cherishable" life.

Hi tessa9, I know that life does seem to be unfair, but the fact is we create our own future. I don't mean that this old man you mention wanted it to be that way, but it is probably what he expected. He probably felt that things would never change for him. It is very sad that he should have to be doing that at his age but until we come to realize that it don't have to be that way, it isn't going to improve. Blessings.

We can never tell what life could bring to all of us. There are only two thing on earth The Good and The bad. What we can do to the less fortunate people is to give what we can offer. to help them in our good intensions. We can't blame life for being so unfair, this is reality.
