Which do you prefer....to buy presents for others, or to make them?

I have actually done both for different reasons. When I could afford really nice gifts, I usually bought them. When money was tight, I used some of my craft making abilities to customize gifts for people. Examples of the home made variety would be crocheted afghans in favorite colors and gift baskets made to suit the recipients.

I love making gift baskets to give as gifts. They are so much fun to put together and can be quite frugal if you find individual items on sale.

i agree..for my grandchildren i usually buy most everything, but always try to include 1 homemade gift that hopefully they will cherish as they grow older, ....i do all types of crafts and love to make all kinds of things...i,too, give gift baskets, filled with a few inexpensive items just for them, and add a couple of gifts that i make to go along with it. I just wish i could make a good living doing crafts, as that is my passion!..thanks so much for sharing with us

Christmas Presents - Getting someone a gift card makes things easier since they can pick out what they like and you don't have to worry about returning something.
I prefer buying christmas presents for people since I am not very good at making things, unless it is my artwork. I used to do my artwork as christmas presents before but have not done any artwork in a while so I buy things now, whether store items or getting gift cards to their favorite stores.

Buy, takes less time, and one can earn more money working and buying than wasting time making.

I do both. I like to let my kids make presents for people because they don't have enough money to buy things themselves and the presents mean more when they are made.

I prefer to buy just because I think it's easier for me. I have too much going on at home to make a gift.

I tend to buy all of my presents. I do love creative things but I'm not confident enough to give them away, lol. How about yourself? Are you a maker or a buyer ;)? :D

i make a lot of gifts..even for my grandchildren, i usually buy most of theirs, but always try to make them at least 1 thing each year..and no, they don't always look like store-bought items, but that's the beauty of the gift. Finances have always determined that I need to make most gifts, but I usually find it very rewarding..although I have made a few things,I must admit, that never made it to the recipient when it just didn't turn out right. Just keep trying new things and soon you'll become confident in whatever you do..thanks for sharing and happy holidays!

truth is, id rather buy since im not really that creative :P if i had the gift of something like painting.. drawing .. then id probably will. but all i can do is web design. if that someone actually eants a website/ webdesign then maybe that's the time id make a present than buy.

This year I will be shopping for all of mine. But I have made some in the past. My favorites were when I made photo albums from past Christmas's. That was a fun project.

I always buy my Christmas presents. Making present myself is a good idea but I have no time and no skill.

Sometimes I like to make my presents. One year I painted wooden snowmen and sewed hats, mittens and scarfs for them. I've also made potpourri lighted jars. I always make peanut butter fudge and chocolate covered pretzels to give to everyone too!
