The "Niagara Falls" of India

When there are enough interesting sites to see in one's own country, we tend to rush to other countries to satiate our hunger for sight seeing. I just happened to watch on TV a spectacular view of the Gokak Water Falls in Belgaum, Karnataka which by all standards compares well with The Niagara Falls. Have you neglected your own country and rushed to other countries for sight seeing?

I have done exactly that--I love traveling abroad to see what other countries have to offer, and have missed huge sections of my own country (I live in the U.S., so that's not so hard to do). The last couple of years, we have tried to travel both in and outside of the U.S., to give our children exposure to both. There are so many beautiful and interesting places to visit all over the world, sometimes you ignore something that's right in your own backyard.

I have rushed off to other countries for sight seeing and not seen all that much of my own country that I am from. The Gakat Waterfalls sound really beautiful indeed. When I was in Australia in the state of Queensland I went for a swim at lovely looking Crystal Cascades. Wow! I have been some amazing looking waterfalls in Samoa and that is my favorite country that I have traveled to. I very much hope to visit India one day in the future.

@maximax. This topic came straight from my heart as I too have been touring so many countries but have seen a little of my own. When I saw this waterfall on TV I really felt guilty. I travelled miles and miles to see the Niagara Falls when I could have seen 'it' right in my own country!

nope..i am still a student and dont come across this circumstances and i dont think this would come also. If we decide to see something today we find more excitng things even in our city itself. It is said that the distant mountains seems gr8 than the beside road..or a path.
