Hi,
I am a mother of one little boy. My son is reaching 4 years old now.
I am quite lucky that I have no problem in feeding my son. Since
he was a baby, he drink milk very fast and he also like to drink water.
When come to solid food, I can say that he is fast eater, the most he will
spend about 20-25 mins to finish up his meal, only when he is not feeling
well, then it will take slightly longer as he did not have appetite to eat.
Now, my son is taking all sort of solid food, he eat rice, noodle, vermicelli,
pasta, bread. I avoid giving him biscuits and any fried foods.
Introduce more vegetables to your kids, some kids may not like to
eat vegetables. So you can hide the vegetables into the dishes like making
some nuggets or meatball and you can also put some vegetables to mix with the meats.
Set a list of food menu for your kids, offer them different kind of food everyday,
so that they won't feel bored having the same food everyday.
Let them have some fruits at least once a day like apple, grapes, plum, strawberry,
pear,etc.
The most important is to eat together with your kids. When they saw you are eating
your food, they may eat their own food and enjoy their meal.
For your 3 years old kid, you can involve him/her in the food
preparation, let him/her do some simple task in preparing the ingredients for his/
her food. It may help to attract his/her attention to eat his/her
food which prepare by himself/herself.

Wow... you are lucky for ypue son. May GOD bless him.
My 3 year old has become quite choosy about the food she eats. She like new food... I prepare the same old food in different way and give it new name. But then it does not go forever, just 1-2 days. AFter that another new name new food. I find it difficult to find new varietry everyday with new name :) plus nutrition.
the little one follows his sister.
thanks for your ideas, I will surely implement them.

Hi,
Be it how choosy is your kids, try to get them
eat more nutritious food which may help in their growing up
process. Introduce new food to them once a week, try to cook
different kind of dishes for them.
For your younger kid,you can cook different kind of porridge with
different ingredients and let her try. Add some bovril while feeding her the
porridge,it does give the porridge more tastier.
As for your 3 years old kid, he is at the stage to eat solid food, make
a home-cooked nuggets or meatballs, hide some green vegetables in between
or cook pasta for him once a week. He does not necessary to eat rice all the time,
introduce noodle, vermicelli. If you know how to make pizza, you can always
make mini pizza for him.
Another way to attract your kid to eat their food is making Bento Meal for them.
Of course, those bento accesories are not cheap, but it really helps to improve
their appetite to eat their food as the food may look cute and tastier.

I agree! being a mom is a very difficult role to play but very fulfilling. because you have to give them 100% of your valuable time. We are very careful in giving them the right and nutritious food. Don't fight with your kids instead try to do something different that they will soon love it like cooking their food in a different manners. like blend or osterized vegetable and fruits just some sugar or milk or chocolate. you have a lot of time for your kids try experimenting on other ways to prepare their food until such time that they will love what you serve them. Be happy!

Really my son is 6 months old and I started to give him more than just milk and rice. It seems like he is accepting it slowly. I think parents have to teach them to like to eat since they are little and need them to be diciplined.

Hi Shalini! Welcome to Mylot!
I must agree feeding our toddlers is a difficult task.
I have a 4 year old son, and still it is taking him almost 2 hours a day for just one meal to finish. Sometimes, he is doing other things like playing or writing while eating. He would be all over the house!
I think if you are concerned about your children not eating good food, I think you should do away with junk foods in your home. If you don't buy junk, they won't look for it since it is not available. We often have stocks of fruits on the fridge, so my son often eats fruits and he likes it a lot. If he ask for french fries, I cooked the real ones and not those processed. I rarely have him eat processed foods.
Make your food interesting to your kids like you can shape the fruits or veggies into funny shapes. This would draw their attention and may be tempted to eat them. If they don't like vegetables, prepare it in such a way they would hardly notice them. My son doesn't like veggies, but I mince them into tiny winy pieces that he could barely notice it in his meals.
