The advent of television channels such as TVLAND, Nick at Nite, American Life Network, Antenna T.V and many other channels Please pardon me if I did not mention your favorite channel. (As a new user to My Lot and I must say I am growing very fond of this site ) I am not sure if this topic has been posted here in this particular discussion post. The topic would be Old Television shows. I grew up watching a lot of television shows from the late fifties,60's, 70's, 80's etc. . We had a lot of classic characters from many television shows, some you loved and some you loved to hate. I am wondering why do you think there is an interest in old television shows, do you think it is because it offers a trip down memory lane, when times were not so challenging and when life was much easier and prices on many many items were low. We sometimes, as many people still do now, plan our evening around watching a particular t.v show on a certain night. Summers were spent catching up on reruns of shows that were missed and I can remember there were new shows premiering only in the Fall Season.
Now there are new shows starting all the time. Why do you think there is an interest in watching the old television shows ? What were some of your favorite t.v characters and what were some of the old television shows that you enjoyed watching ?

I enjoy tuning in to TVland and watching some of the older television shows. Sometimes they make more sense and have more comedy to relate to than the ones we see on televison today.

You are so right about this, some of the comedy shows today, don't seem to make any sense at all and it's hard to figure out what the main story line is or what the heck is going on.

Those television show were like a part of my life. I remember Gunsmoke, Cheyenne, The Big Valley just for started. I used to get up and clean house on Saturday mornings and take my breaks watching these shows on WGN and another channel I can't recall. My daughter and I were so tickled to see that TVland had Bewitched on again.
We enjoy these old shows because they bring back memories of when we were kids. How life was back in the days of Gunsmoke. And we grew to love the characters AND the actors. I recall my grandmother and my aunt going to the rodeo to see the actors and get their autographs. Pretty funn for my kin.
Old tv shows. When we only had black and white. Back in the dark ages. I am so proud and happy to have been a youngster during that dawning age of television.

I like more of the old shows then the new ones. I think the humor is better and peoples real lives aren't being exposes on a regular basis. Reality TV seems to be all that's on anymore.
