My friend wants to move to Alaska

A friend of mine told me this crazy idea planning to move to Alaska. I just don't know how to respond to it. He never been to Alaska, and I never been there. He asked me if I could take some time off, and travel over there with him, on cruise or travel by plane whatever. I won't mind to go there, but my vacation is tight according to my schedule. If I go, I want to take cruise too, probably less expensive than on the plane. He wants to scout that area, and if possible, any investment opportunity, or he can find a job there too. Had anyone been to Alaska, how was the job market there? I heard not much entertainment, and people can earn much more money though.
