Alright so I woke up today with a terrible headache! I gotta know if anybody knows which medicines are best for headaches. Also, does anybody know any home remedies to prevent and/or stop a headache? Thanks ahead of time!

I have headaches once in awhile, and I take Advil as my pain reliever. I noticed that my headaches are often due to lack of sleep, or too much sleep, or sleeping late at nights already. To avoid that, better sleep at the right time, if possible, so that you can wake up early in the morning. Hope you're okay now.

I am a long time headache and migraine sufferer. The only thing that helps me is Excedrin. No other pain reliever helps and the Excedrin starts working in minutes.
I also find that tying a scarf around my head applying deep pressure, feels oh so good. It keeps the numbing staving pain from shifting.
I hope this helps and cheers dear to pain free days!

Some of this, of course, depends on the reason/location of the headache but..l
Eating black licorice
Hot or cold compress
Drinking a warm drink
As for actual medication, I usually go with a minimum of 500mg (1 extra str capsule) of Ibuprofen. If that doesn't work, I'll take another, smaller dose and that usually does the trick, but it makes me need to sleep.
Hope that helps and that you are feeling better soon!

If you have taken a pain reliever and you still have your headache try drinking something with a little bit of caffeine. That often works for me, jsut a little caffeine can take the edge off. In fact most migraine medicinces include caffeine in their ingredients.
