I really dont know if its me alone notice this or maybe just hearing this but listen here:
So my mother send me to cut up some plums to make some drinks so i did just that. Then she sent me to blend the plums and this is what i meet up on.
Did you notice that the blender have a number of buttons and guess what, i dont know if I am wrong or right, but ALL THE BUTTONS DOES THE SAME THING. Thats weird.
So on my i have the off/ pulse button. I press it and the plums blend and the rest of them when i press it do the exact same thing. So what is this all about?
I really find it funny how a company will put on extra buttons on a blender to say it has more features.
Tom: My blender can blend and grate (2 buttons).
Mary: lol my blender can do all that plus it can crush ice (3 buttons)
Renhard: you idiots my blender has one button and guess what it does all those things.

ROFLMAO!
So the more buttons they have, the higher the price but all that you would be paying for is... the extra buttons?

I know that they have different function, the top one turns off, the 2nd one grate, the third one blend, etc atleast that is what they say. But they all spin the blades at the same speed, etc.
But i wonder how much money you actually paid for all those buttons? Really could you give me an idea of the price?

I noticed the same thing on my blender. All the buttons except the pulse and the one at the far right seem to do the same thing while the last one makes it go the fastest speed!
Sometimes I think they add extra buttons and stuff to make people think they're getting something a lot fancier than they really are!

I think you've got a great point. There is no difference in how your blender will cut, just the speed. So, all it could possibly do is change how long it takes to blend. So, if they add extra buttons, they can increase the price, and get more of exactly what they want (money).

LOl they are very smart though. Hey dragon our blenders sound very similar the only difference was that if i hold down on my off button it still blends, if i hold down on the button to far right (ice crush) it still seem to blend.
So guess what i tried this. I cycle through each of the buttons one at a time to listen to d speed and it really sound the same to me. I am just confuse.

I've noticed those buttons too. I've often wondered if they do the same thing, or if they all do something different. If they are all different, then the difference is too subtle for some people, including me, to notice. LOL

I haven't had a blender in a while but the one I had just had different speeds and yes...does all the things you mentioned here. It's like some of the microwaves have different buttons for cooking different foods when all you really need is to time the food and it works the same.

Ok I get it for eggs or something like that but they have buttons for "frozen Pizza" etc...seriously...the microwave directions for almost anything are on the label. And when you purchase a microwave...the basic things like eggs, meats are in the recipe book that comes with it so really...why all the buttons?

Wait hold on right there, isn't eggs the brownish or whitish things that chickens lay? I had to ask because i have never heard of anyone putting eggs in a microwave.
i have heard of people frying eggs and some people actually boil it. But just putting it in the microwave like that just seem wrong. Who would really do that. How does that taste? And what can you actually make with putting eggs in a microwave? How does it actually look when you take that egg out of the microwave?

I was wondering when someone was going to notice that the microwave was similar and mention it. I didnt want to be the one to bring it up. I still think tho that the microwave one make sense, atleast for my microwave. My microwave have buttons for certain different foods and there are different time program for each food. So maybe some scientist sat down and work out how much time you would really need to heat that particular food so that we our self dont have take out the food every minute the check if its hot. So i actually agree with what the designers did for the microwave but i just still cant really appreciate the blender.

Ya, for the most part a blender is just what the name implies. For the rest of the stuff I use a food processor. There are usually about three speeds and that helps to cut through harder material. I have mostly given all that up and my daughter has taken over the cooking. Thank goodness. I would go bonkers when all the new stuff out now. I am used to the old tried and true methods.

You Said it! The old method are always better than these new methods. Indeed they are. A food processor is actually a large blender type appliance. It has a removeable container much larger than on a blender. It has several attachments that grate, mince, etc. The blender is speed and that is all it has to offer where the processor has the attachments.

But actually the old method are always better than these new methods. Could you remind me what a food processor is? I know for sure though that i dont have any home. And you are making yourself seem really old when you say your daughter have taken over cooking.
By the way the three speeds that you say it have. Which speed usually cut through harder material the fast speed or the slow speed? The reason why i ask is most time the slow speed even though it is slow, it is usually strong. While for the fast speed even though it is fast, it is usually weak.

It certainly does seem like marketer and manufacturers really have a good handle/button on their strategies. They know that for $3.00 more we will want the extra added plastic.

Actually I am kind of happy that they put all those buttons on it you know. You see because after blending all that plums i start to get bored. And when i have more buttons i usually press all of them. So i would put in the batch of plum with some water and sugar, then i would press the bottom button then the top button then the middle button then the other buttons. I usually do it to kill time. So i think maybe they could be useful if you think about them like that. I would really appreciate it though if they could make something to cut up the plums for me and extract the seed. You know it took me 4 HOURS to actually cut up all those plums, then another hour to blend all of them with sugar and water. So much work. I would expect that technology was made to done work in the quickest time and that seem as if it took forever to actually complete.

LOL. This world is so twisted up. But speaking on serious terms now, do you actually thing the blend button is different from the liquefy or different from the grater button. Maybe its just me that cant see any difference. Maybe someone else can see that difference. maybe I am just the weird little one. So I am going to ask you so I know if I am going crazy. Or those buttons different?

Nope you are not crazy and I am like you I don't see any difference I mean the blade rotate, crush liquify and they all seem to be the same function. I just press the one closest to my finger. lol and when that one I pick seems to slow I press the next one. I really don't see a difference at all.

You know, I have other gadgets to do similar functions. I hardly ever use my blender on a stand any more, because I have what is called an immersion blender. Basically, it is a blender on a stick. It can go fast or slow. There is a jar that has another blade in it and you can hook the stick blender on to a little gear and it drives it to grind up more stuff. Like a food processor. I would use my blender more if I had a counter where it could sit out. Mine has about seven buttons, and then it has a button to go in high speed so it tells me it does fourteen different functions, but mainly, I just go use the stick blender, easier clean up.

I cant imagine how that really is. I need to actually see one to know how it look like because it sounds mixed up to me. But it sound really nice and it sounds like I could really find it useful. I would really want to get one. The way you make it seem, make it seem so nice.

Doesn't it have different speeds? Or is that a different button?

You see my blender has a number of buttons on it. One special button is called fast/ slow. When that is up all the other buttons cause the blender to do its job fast. When it is pressed down all the other buttons do job slow. so there is always a time when every button is doing the same thing.

Hey, it's cute having all those colorful buttons there!
I have not noticed it the buttons do the same thing because I only use the pulse button. In fact, the pulse button on our blender looks faded already.
Have a nice day!

I know it is. It makes the machine looks a bit more presentable. And looks are one major thing that people go for nowadays so without looks a machine really cant go on sale.
Any how so wait have you ever found those buttons useful though? What about to play with them when you feel idle. Have you ever done that before? That is what i do when I am bored and have to blend alot of things.

Ok to be really practical, my blender has about 7 buttons ,the button at the extreme bottom when press down causes all the other button to go at a low speed, while when the button at the extreme bottom is up, it cause all the rest of the button to go at a fast speed. But the fact still remains, all the buttons cause the blade of the blender to go the same speed. the only time the speed lowers is when the bottom button is pressed and at that point in time all the buttons start to go low speed, not just one of them but all of them go the same low speed.
Tell me this though whats the difference between blend and grater? And how can the speed of the blade change if the fruit is grater or blend? The only thing maybe that could change if the fruit is grater or blend is if the shape of the blade change in such a way to perform those different task, and I am yet to meet a blender which does just that.

Which number are you actually referring to? I cant remember seeing any numbers on mine. Mine just hae a name for each button, like what i say, blend etc. And i even call my mother to also listen and tell me if it sound like the blender is increasing in speed. i study sciences and i can tell that if the blender was increasing in speed it suppose to produce a higher pitch sound comparing to a lower speed. But when i actually cycled through all those buttons i notice that i still hear the same pitch sounds. So i really dont think those buttons actually make sense. Only sense it make is for idling.
