and I am wondering if I should go with Dell again. I have a refurbished Inspiron right now and I am liking it and the fact that it has Windows 7 on it. I was lucky to get the refurbished because I was having so many problems with the old one. But now I am wondering-Dells are expensive. I am wondering if anyone out there in Mylot land has had another brand laptop that they really feel is a good product and would be cheaper than another Dell--? What brand is it? Why is it so great? Do you keep a good security system on it? (I give mine a workout and am on it probably ten hours aday.) Is the memory large, small? Graphics? How's it work for you?

I bought an HP last time and I'm sorry that I did. I wanted a Dell, but found a good sale at HP so I went ahead. Next time I will hold out for a Dell, even though it might be more expensive.

I used to work for a call center that was customer service for HP. I would never buy an HP product. Maybe a printer but even then......?? Funny too cause here we were working for HP basically and you know what computers we used? Dell!

My laptop came from Dell directly, last week, actually and I paid $496 everything included, shipping and handling waived as part of a sale, they also provide financing plans but at a rate of 28% per year. They do give great sales, though. I already had my mouse, though. The deal I got expired, but they always got something good :-) You can try TigerDirect for some sweet deals on refurbished electronics, soemtimes they have good offers there.

Oh, and I got 4gb RAM and 320gb hard drive, it's all you really need unless you're into gaming and heavy-duty work and all that. But what I have is sufficient for Internet browsing and perhaps a nice photo collection from my photography escapades.

I bought my last Dell about three years ago with all the bells and whistles for about $1400. That included a case for it. Had alot of memory and was very nice. Now I could handle the $500 if it had what all I needed. I will have to check out TigerDirect. Thanks.

My last two have been Dells, and I was pretty happy with them. The kids laptop is a Toshiba, and it seems to be doing pretty well too. I do keep virus and spyware protection on them, though I don't update the spyware stuff often enough.

That's good. With the experience I had with a virus a couple of years ago I go in for the best security I can get.

Heyya celticeagle! I have an Acer. This thing is loaded and I have had it for a little over a year now. It has the Windows 7. I got it with 4GB of memory but they did have the 2 GB version for cheaper. 64x2 processor and a disk drive too. Graphics are nice. It's a little bigger than what I think I should have got, it is 15 inch screen..but I really don't carry it around that much. Oh..and the USB ports are handy too. It was a lot cheaper than a Dell. I do know a very interesting site though where you can bid on Dells, new and refurbished. I'll PM it to you if you want.
