I took a tiny risk, and bid on my first laptop on ebay its a IBM t60) and so far it works great though I had to update the system software and remove some junk files and scan for viruses, but everything looks awesome yay! the screen looks like new and the outer case looks great its coa approved ginuwine. I was worried that I'd end up with a dud because of past bad experience's with ebay but so far so good, but if it crashes I'll post an update but lets hope it doesn't
So have you ever made a risky buy or bid on ebay and how did it turn out?

Hi, here's some tips
1. Pick Top Rated sellers, that means sellers with a high rating/good reputations
2. Maker sure sellers offers a 7, to 14, 30, day return policy
3. Research the products on other sites and make sure you understand the product your buying also to ensure you get a good deal
4. Read some of the negative ratings to see if seller has a lot of crazy complaints
5. Save searches that fit what your looking for that will also make it easier to find what your looking later
Bidding tips
1. Choose a spending limit and stick to it
2. It sometimes helps to search for auctions that are ending soon that may increase your chances of winning because there's no time for bidding wars
3. Show the sellers that you are trust worthy by paying for items fast with paypal because a lot of sellers prefer that method of payment
4. Safety first Never do any buying transactions away from ebay because your open to being scammed that way, if you need to communicate with seller do it through ebay only
5. Read product descriptions very carefully, because if you dont read the info carefully you might miss something important and try to avoid listing with stock photo's because sometimes those are misleading.
Hope this info helps you.

Hiya apples,
Me no never took that risk because I have broken up my Credit Card as well for a start off it was really a must to do that.
However I am glad you took the chance and bought that laptop it does sound good and hope it keeps working well for you too.
I like E-bay but only to buy things off that I really need and I have to use someone elseĀ“s Credit Card and then pay them back after with the Charges included. I prefer this as things are very very tight at the moment.

Personally Ebay has it's good experiences along with some Bad experiences for me, and that is one of the main reasons I have not accessed that site in yrs. I never did buy any Electronics there as personally I am someone who usually either buys brand new, or if not has to try the product out before purchase for sure. But good to hear you had a Good experience with them this time and hope to always continue to hear this from you and others as well.

I am a very new seller on ebay and so far all is going well. Each day I am viewing more and more of the items that are being sold. So I have to tie my hands up because I am so tempted many times to make some risky purchases.
After reading your discussion sounds like you got a good deal, I might just untie my hands soon.
Enjoy your laptop!

I sold a few little items, and bought a few DVDs as well as other miscellaneous purchases on ebay. but I never bought anything as risky as a laptop until now, though only after some careful thought and research I decided to go for it though I chose one of the top rated sellers on ebay and I researched the laptop brand on other sites and I also made sure the seller offered a warranty and thankfully everything seems like it worked out great so far.
Thanks for responding hope you continue having a good ebay experiences.

i am never buy product from ebay but to sell...cuz most of the sellers can not ship the item to China...Since that i just sell some items on ebay but it's a really good experience though to be tired and to be claimed, from ebay, i can learn many things (cuz i consider it as my own business): such as the importance of customer service, how to deal with different buyer...

Hey, well done. Thats really lucky that your risk worked. I wouldnt particularly say I've ever really taken a 'risk' on ebay, but I've bought things on there that I wouldnt have bought or been able to buy by going out to the shops. I got my other half a second hand scalextric set for christmas this year, as our budget was too small to get him a new one. That was a bit of a risk, because I didnt know what condition it would be in, if he would like it etc. I was really happy when it arrived though as the seller had put new cars in it, and it all worked fine. Although personal circumstances made christmas this year the most horrible one I will probably ever have, I think the scalextric managed to lighten the mood a little, so I was glad I'd bought something fun, and not just the usual aftershave or whatever.
Other things I'm considering buying are DIY acrylic nail sets. I've never done those before, but they are so cheap on ebay.
My fella got me a dressmakers dummy too off ebay, as a really early birthday present. That thing is just awesome as it expands to the size you need. He took quite a risk getting that, as he had to drive quite a distance to pick it up, not knowing exactly what condition it would be in when he got it.
