Last Saturday my husband paid for the driving fee. And then he has some material for learning it. He has to pass the writting exam for driving next month and then he can learn how to drive. I checked via the net and it seems it will take about 4-10 months to get a driving license. Wow, it seems it is quite a long time. Although it seems to be better as it will be good for yourself and others as you have learned it for a long time. But it is a long time anyway

Hi there... I had neither prior knowledge of driving nor to pass any test or exam. I deposited some extra money and got the license. Its so easy here.... perhaps system is strict now, i dont know exactly. Have a nice day.

Even now a days people pays extra money to the officers.Giving extra money to officers is our own decision.I think we can effectively stop this by following the rules. In India we don't have to appeare for written test for motor cycle driving license.Officers take only oral test to issue the license. We can study the driving rules so easily. Some people in order to save the time to study the rules, pays extra money to officers through agents which is corruption and goes to officers pocket.

In the place where I am at, the driving license is one of the easiest things that we can get if we have the money. It will take a month at least because one needs to wait for a month after applying for the Learner's Licence to try for a Driver's Licence. So, every Tom,(mylot doesn't let me use the second name :P)and Harry can get a licence here. I've got one myself (which took me 3-4 months)....but I still can't drive and during my driving test I was asked to drive a few metres and stop...that's it...and voila...I got my licence....can you believe it???????

I don't drive at all! Not till I am confident that I can drive safely. But my point is that most of the others on the road ...who have a license...can't really drive and it's crazy out here. It's not safe to walk..let alone drive.

Hi youless, really glad to learn that your husband is going to sit for the driving exam the following month to qualify for learning to drive on road practically. Here in my place we can learn and prepare the writing exam while we are learning driving. We pay certain amount for learning both via driving school instructor. Many driving schools are available here. Those who know the technique of driving can take the shorter course like three months package or four months package. They are of different charge. Those who don't have much confidence in driving usually tend to go for longer practice. Having long time and more practice practically would help to avoid road accident for they have accumulated lots of authentic experience on road I suppose. For the safety purpose it doesn't matter to have more experience. waiting seems to make thing longing for go slow. I look forward to see you and your son enjoying riding on your husband's car very soon. Happy posting and have a nice day

From your new avatar I can see your loving son has grown up to be a primary school boy now. He looks really handsome in his happy smiling face When my son in this age enjoyed standing behind me while I's driving. He had great interest to see how I overtook cars. I believe your son likes doing so as well when riding on his dad's car later. It's very convenient to have our own car when going out. I hope your husband doing both his writing and practical lessons smoothly and get the driving liscene soon. Thanks for the BR and happy posting

Actually, it's not that long. It'll fly by before you know it. When I got my permit at 15 and a half I had the option of going for my license 6 months later (16 is the legal driving age here in CA). However, I opted to wait an extra year and a half and took my test when I was 17. It was totally worth the wait. Not only did I pass on the first try, but I have a clean driving record after all these years (knock on wood). LOL I wish your husband good luck. Happy mylotting!

Here in India I got my driving license for motocycle with gear in 45 days.On first day they asks about some questions about driving rules and I have to drive my bike infront of them then they issued a learning license valid for six months after 8 days. And after one month one can apply for permanent license.I had also applied after one month. The officer again asked some questions about driving rules and I had required to drive bike infront of him.And they issued permanent license in 7-8 days.

It is not that easy. But if one is good at driving and memorise all driving rules and meaning of signs that are used to guide on the road then it becomes really easy.

HI, in my country there is no much restriction i think because we didn't have any written test over here, but even though it took 3 months for me to get the license, we have to pass all the exams on driving by driving the vehicle/car only and not by any written test...

Hi. youless. I have my permit but not my driver's license just yet. I think that we have to wait six months to a year, before we try for our driver's license after getting a permit here in South Carolina. I wish your husband the best of luck and blessings in getting his driver's license and/or permit. I plan to try for mines this year too. I am hoping that I can get it. This seems like this is the hardest thing that I ever had to do in life. Take care.

Here, we have to pass a test and a driving exam, pay a fee, and we get our driving license that day. I remember getting the driving manual a month or so before my test so I could study for it.

Hi, Just wondering how come it take so long to obtain a driving license at your country. Is it the normal procedure? It is better to check with the relevant department. I got my Malaysia driving license few years back. I obtained it within a month time. I enrolled to the driving course, learnt the practical and theory, then underwent the examination for both practical and theory before getting my driving pass. I felt so happy when I passed all the examinations and can't wait to get my driving license. At first, I was hesitate to drive myself, but lucky my husband is always at my side to guide me and lastly, I can drive myself. I feel so convenience to drive myself, I can go anywhere I want.

From the net, it seems that four months is already a fast time to get the driving licence. You know, you have to prepare the writting test for one month. Then after that, you are qualified to learn the driving. It seems it is very strict.

we are here in the philippines and i don't think it will take that long, my husband is a taxi driver and i think at the start he took only a non-professional driver's license with that he can already drive as his professional driver's licence is being processed.

I have had my license so long that I do not remember. I took several weeks of classes and then some tests. Now they require a lot of practice drive time as well. At least for the young people. I am quite old and so I do not remember a lot, when I took driver's education we did get a lot of practice drive time in, and then my parents would take me practicing too, long before I got my license. It is a good skill to have and as long as I keep the fee paid, I do not have to take more classes.

Hi! Spending 4-10 months just for taking a driving licence is really too long, in my country here Malaysia, you just need to attend a theory course and passed the exam, you can proceed to learn how to drive, and you have to attend a driving lesson for at leat 40 hours before you can go for the driving test, so the most it will take for a person to get a driving licence will be just in 1 or 2 month depend on how much time you are willing to spend on the lesson and practical. Last time when I apply for driving liscence, it took me just 3 weeks including attend the theory and practical, and I got my driving licence on the 3rd week.

Wow that seems like a long time but I suppose safety is probably their concern. Here in Illinois we pay the fee, pass the written test, take the driving test and license is issued same day. Some who do not know how to drive can take drivers lessons and the underage also get driving lessons, but so as long the person is of legal age and they pass the requirements it is instant. Maybe we have more accidents. lol kidding. This is how I got mine many moons ago at age 15 because a while ago minimum was 15.

And two months I learned driving test and then put the driving test and got my driver's license. Total training lasted four months. Well I was driving safely and am very proud of my driving license.
