Charged 4 times to pay for putting our kids in Wisconsin Schools.

Here in Wisconsin, school districts have property tax levy authority. In addition to the taxes they receive directly, they also draw from the city, county and state budgets. They also get money from the state lotto, but that's a side issue since it is't a tax. When we first moved here we learned about the property and state taxes. With all that money going to the schools, we figured the school fees would be a lot lower than in the other states we've lived in. WRONG! The fees were just the same. There were no financial benefits realized from all the taxes collected in the name of "the schools". So, in reality, when a family in Wisconsin sends our kids to school, we are charged 4 different times for the same services. The school taxes us, the city/county taxes us, the state taxes us, and then we pay school fees. Would you sit quietly as you were taxed 4 times for the same services?

When I was homeschooling, I wondered about getting an exemption from the taxes we were paying into the public school system. There is no way to do so. At least not in the state I lived in. I was told that the services were there for my children and I must pay even if I didn't avail myself of them. I didn't protest, but I sure felt like something was wrong with that. Later, after thinking about it some, I calmed myself down and realized that I did have a stake in the education of ALL children, not just my own. So, how would a person go about protesting this situation you described?

Vote for candidates who will actually work for the people instead of the unions.

I used to believe that that would actually work ParaTed. But I'm seeing as much wrong with the right as I am the left. At least in the results after they are elected. Can we trust any of them anymore?

hi we had the same thing in Arizona when we bought a house. our babies were too young for shcool but we still were taxed four times by the shcool system and my elderly mom was taxed four ways for schools too and she had nobodyin the tempe school district at all not fair not at all. old people should not be paying school taxes for other peoples children at all nor young couples who will not be using sht schools for four or five years.

At least your state gets some windfall from the retirees from others states. Here in Wisconsin the teachers union (WEAC) helps retired public school teachers and workers move to more "tax friendly" states. To help their pensions go further.

Personally Wisconsin is far from the only state out there facing this issue and making people wonder what really is going on, and what chances are their for your kids getting a decent Education anymore. I know it sometimes makes me really Glad that I do not have any kids, and wonder what hope for a decent education there really is for most of them anymore. Here in WA state for example you see them continue to close schools, and cut the wages, etc for what a teacher can make as well as continue to want to raise more in taxes to keep everyone Happy as well. Personally if they were to really look at the Big picture there is truly other things out there worth messing with than Taxes for the schools and school teachers and our childrens education as well. Overall it makes me wonder what type of jobs can ever be offered later on as well?

NO and not sure about the taxes here about schools I know we pay them with our property taxes but would have to look again at the tax thing I get every year to see if more than one gets took out for schools . what gets me all property owners pay school taxes even people with NO kids. which I dont think is fair. we even pay a tax for homeless people!!!!!!

Well, if you're in Milwaukee, I'm sure all of those taxes are so the teachers can have city, county, and state pensions - to which they contributed nothing.

Oh, Milwaukee is a special case, they get extra. Have you ever heard of a public school district with a $1.2 Billion budget?

I can not recommend to buy a laptop brand which , since I do not know the function of the laptop for your job. due to certain jobs require special specifications such as for example an architect or people who work with 3D animation. I could not possibly recommend this work using a laptop with atom processor.
