Today is my son's 7th birthday and we had a family dinner at our favorite restaurant. On the 19th of March we are going to celebrate his birthday with about 50 guests or more.
I remembered my own childhood and suddenly i found myself reminiscing my past. I was so happy then when life was less complicated. The only problems i had was when my mother won't allow me to play or when my brother and i would have a fight. Other than that my life was a luxurious one. My father shielded me from any kinds of pain and protected me well, although i still find myself escaping to the rice field and would play with hay. My mother tried to protect my skin from wounds and scars, but i would still climb mountains and got hurt now and then.
I loved the country life and i missed that a lot when i went to elementary school. So i was always looking forward to the Christmas and summer vacation where i can spend my holidays in the mountains and climbing trees again.
How simple life was then. Now my son has ipad, wii, psp, nintendo dsl, and is using facebook.

Hi Dear Toniganzon! Times have got changed a lot! I am fifty plus today! The days of our childhood was totally different from what our kids they are having today! During our childhood we used to have lot of physical activities! Lot of local games and sports, playing foot ball which we used to get and get repaired by contributing money in case of any damage occured to it, We used to play cricket with some make shift bats and stumps, we used to play hockey with sticks! Apart from these there used to be lot of local games which were popular then.
We used to have many natural foods available like fruits and home made preparations , Chocolate Used to be luxury for us similarly the ice cream! We used to go go to local jungles to have berries and other fruits. Cycling was another activity which we used to enjoy a lot.
During summer vacations we used to play lot of indoor games as there used to be lot of sun outside and during evening times we used to play till late nights as we used to live in colony where we used to have a big playground at the centre with good lighting!
Listening fairy tales from grand mother and grand father used to be a altogether different experience and my grand father was an expert in telling a story in instalments, he used to tell stories like Arabian nights which would continue for few day or even some tomes few weeks too!
Getting wounds and scars was a common thing and we never used to bother even tell these things to our parents . we our selves used to apply some antiseptics and go out to play the games and sports!
There would be no end if I start discussing about the things what we did during my childhood ! My childhood was definitely an memorable thing for me with some bitter and some sweet memories incorporated in it! Thanks for making me nostalgic dear friend!

So true! Even at this age, when I pass besides my old school I can feel the fear and respect what I had for the school in similar fashion the way I had at that time! The more older we grow these memories get more seasoned to become more sweet! That is true! Thanks !

Nothing compares to a childhood memory. We sure do have a lot to share. Funny how time flies by so fast. When we think of our past, it seems that everything happened just last week.

Hi toni
A Happy Birthday to you son from us (me and my wife).
Life always is simpler at that age though the needs and requirements keep changing from one generation to the next.
Seems your kid is becoming a Techy already... Hope you would not mind me asking - does he gou out and play with friends like I used to and probably you too did? I have heard and read a few instances that kids with so much technology at hand tend to stick to their gadgets and do not have much fun outside... so just wondering

I think I have mentioned that my son would still prefer to play with his cousins when we go home to my parents'. He would ride his bicycle and roam around too. During the summer we would go to the beach in another town and he doesn't bring any of those gadgets at all. The only time he gets engrossed with them is when he's alone and got nobody to play with. Sometimes he would ask me to play mastermind with him, chess or monopoly. He's into board games too!

Reminiscing my childhood days always bring smile to me. I had happy childhood as well, no problems, no worries whatsoever. I grew up in a middle-class community and was lucky enough to have good childhood friends and enjoyed playing hide & seek, running, tree climbing, kite playing, bathing in the rains, all street games. It was indeed a memorable childhood days. I wish my children experience those too but the problem is they are all tied up with school activities and faced the computer on their free time. Generation today is really different.

Hello bestfriend!
HAppy birthday to your son! Wow! Happy mom! Yeah, I agree with you, back when we are still in our childhood years we live a simple life. we have less complicated problems, we have less problems. But back then we wish that we get older, earn money for ourselves... such is the irony of life, it's even a mystery...
Because now that I am already in what I've wished for, I wished I could go back to my childhood.

What do you mean he will have nothing to look forward to? There's a lot to look forward to since he hasn't even reached the teenage years where dating is the most anticipated thing. And technology is always evolving. Gadgets are not something that one needs to look forward to.

yeah that is really a phase in e world in our life when you can do nothing wrong and everything you do is forgiven. Every event is a memory when we are young. Its like we can have all the things that we wish for and joy is the only feeling that comes to us. We lived in a town and our native was in the country side. To meet our relatives mostly grandparents, we had to visit the countryside once in 2 or may be 3 years as my parents were busy in their work. It was real pleasure when we visited relatives as there were many of my age to play with and enjoy. I was one hell of a boy as i regularly got myself hurt but still it all went down as part of my sweet memories....

Hi,
Talking about my childhood,I really miss that moments.
I am glad to be born in my family,I have a great parents who
support me well and give me the best and also few siblings at my side.
We have a very close relationship with each other.
But when we are young,we tend to quarrel over small matter, especially
with my eldest sister. We have a big gap age,but we still do play
together once a while and sometimes we will end up hitting each other.
Then my mother will come to rescue me and scold my sister.
Until now, I know that my parents still love me alot.

I'm only 20 but stories or post like this makes me feel like I was born in the 18th century. Children now are really missing out on the simplicity of childhood in the past (wow I feel like a grandma talking).
I remember just playing with jump rope or anything lying in the house. We had a game before where we used stones and empty tin cans. Now children has all this kind of gadgets that even I can't seem to operate or see the point of using it.
My fondest memory is me and cousins picking coffee beans in my grandpa's house. It seemed uneventful back then but looking back, it was actually pretty cool.

I had an awesome childhood too. My parents got me whatever I wanted and I never felt anything lacking and I'm very thankful to my parents for that. But kids these days are living the life . They have everything I never even dreamt of when I was a kid lol. Anyway I miss my childhood days too. The only thing that worried me back then were my grades. I really wanted to grow older back then lol. Now, I'd give everything to get back my childhood.

All my best memories are associated with Christmas childhood. At Christmas, we always were all together, laughter, poetry, and joy for the gifts. Even now, remembering the tears in her eyes, they really are my beautiful childhood memories. Now I have a large and Christmas is no as it was in childhood.

I do remember my childhood days as well when every thing seemed so happy and so easy. I can play whenever I want to right after doing my homework. I can go with friends on a picnic by the mountains. There was no care in the world except the fear of getting scolded when I have done something wrong. I remember how I enjoyed watching all my favorite cartoon characters and how easily amazed i am with a simple doll gift from my aunts. I used to love burgers back then and ice cream and can eat as much as I want. Life then was easier and way better.
