Hi Mylotters! I am getting married next year. As we start to plan the wedding, we are trying to find ways to save on the expenses. I know of making things for the wedding (we are making our own invatitions, favors, ring pillows, ect.) but was wondering if anyone else has any good tips on how to save money on the wedding? We want to save, but also have it to still look classy and not cheap. Thank you for any advice you can give!

Look online for your dress or at a consignment shop where you may be able to save some money. Also, ask a friend who knows something about flowers to help you make the floral arrangements. Also, you could make the food for your reception. All of these will help to save some money and any that you can save is important.

Hello,
That's great.
You can also rent gowns for the whole entourage instead of buying.
Then, arrange the venue yourself with your friends to assist you with.
Or assigned any of your relatives who knows how to decorate, all you need to do is give your desired designs.

Hi,
Congratulation to you and your live partner.
Since you guys plan to have a wedding next year, then you guys can start
save money for your wedding.
Do you plan to have a wedding party or just a simple wedding ceremony?
Some people may opt for wedding holiday,it means they won't have any
wedding dinner, but after the wedding ceremony either in church or at home,
then the couple may just go for honeymoon.
That is the simple one and save money.
Last time, on my wedding, I did not have any wedding party on my own side,
only on my husband's side,he has a simple wedding dinner party with
some close relatives and friends.
After that , we went for short holiday trip with my family members.

Make your own center pieces. You can take 1 foot square mirrors that you can find at a hardware store for less than a dollar each (and then can be arranged in you home as a backdrop for a room or used in with canvas paintings). Put some glasses (again found at a dollar store) and put pebbles in the bottom of the glasses, then fronds (fake ones in the colors that you choose) coming out of the glass. You can then clean out the glasses and use them at your house.
Good quality fake flowers are less expensive than going through a florist, it is something that you can do on your own ahead of time, and the bridesmaids have a memento that is not going to die, from your day.
Daytime weddings tend to be cheaper than night time ones. Plan an 11 oclock ceremony followed by brunch or lunch.
Have the reception in the church hall. You may then have more money to spend on decorations.
Ask if there is a deal with the hair dresser for all of the girls getting their hair done at the same place.

Walmart and ebay are your friends. There are a lot of great China-based companies and factories that sell on ebay for fantastic prices. I got a custom-sized couture wedding gown for $200 and a matching veil for $60. Ans the wedding and crafts section at Walmart is great, they look very elegant and are extremely cheap.

what time of year are you getting married? can you grow your own flowers? maybe you could make cupcakes instead of a cake? call in all your favours. maybe a friend or a relative knows someone that is a professional. also get people to take pictures. its often nicer and cheaper.

I know where I live at there is free clothing places and also I saw a store the other day that had wedding things to sell and also depending on where you live there is free sites where you can go and tell people what you are looking for and sometimes you can get stuff for free.

Here are my tips:
- Buy your wedding dress on Ebay, much much cheaper than buying it in a store!
- Never tell any supplier you are getting stuff for a wedding, since they will over charge you if you do!
- Keep the guest list as small as possible.
- Try to find anything you can through friends, including a place, a photographer and more, for better rates.
Congrats on your engagement by the way!
