Does anyone ever remember what happened just before? Thursday, June 21, 2007? At Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville, Kentucky? On the Superman Tower Of Power? At between 4:45 and 5:00 pm? A thirteen year old girl was on the Superman Tower Of Power with her two friends when a cable broke during the trip up to the top. Then during the free fall drop, that broken cable swung around swiftly, wrapped around that rider's feet and severed them both at the level of the ankles. The ride used to be the Hellevator. It was put into the park in 1995 just inside the main entrance. It was the Hellevator until the end of the 2006 season and renamed Superman Tower Of Power prior to the 2007 season. The ride was the Intamin AG Giant Drop model. The ride was 177 feet tall. The magnetic failsafe braking system slows all the five cars to the stop just 20 feet towards the ground. The girl's right foot was reattached while her left leg was amputated just below the knee due to the broken femur. If anyone wants to check all this out, just simply google it by going to www.google.com and typing in the search box. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom was fined one thousand dollars for failing to maintain the ride to ensure the safety. And the girl's family is suing the park over this. In response to this, Six Flags and other amusement companies shut down similar rides for inspection for precaution. One year later the girl and her family went to Washington, DC to speak about all this tragedy in order to change things by pleading for stricter and tougher regulations of all amusement rides. Anyone with questions go ahead and respond to this.

Hi Jakesnake1978. This is so sad! How awful! After hearing about all of the accidents at Six Flags, I would never consider going to this amusement park. Six Flags should be charged and they should be sued too. I remember another incident that happened at Six Flags. It was to an 16 year old boy. He was from Columbia, SC. And he went to Six Flags with his church group. He ended up wandering off when his hat fell off of his head. He was looking for his hat. And he ended up going to an area that was prohibited. Well his head was amputated. I thought that this was so scary. I think that this happened the year of 2009. I loved getting on many rides, but after hearing about things like this, I am second guessing myself from getting onto these kind of rides anymore. They are just too dangerous and risky!
