Do you make your own versions of boxed items?

You know all those convenience foods out there? Do you make your own home made versions of them? Do you feel that doing that makes them healthier?
I love Shake and Bake for pork chops. It's an odd obsession. However, I have found that I can make it at home, without using the pre-mixed boxed version and a fraction of the cost, and personally I think it tastes better and is probably better for me. I do this with a lot of things I see in the store. I've gotten cheap I guess. I can't bring myself to buy a bottled marinade or a pre-made mix when I know I can buy the ingredients cheaper and then I'll know exactly what I'm putting in my food.

Some premade boxed dinners do not taste good.
No matter how hard I try, I cannot bring myself
to like Hamburger Helper.

Ahh, this made me remember- I must try to "bread" some chicken or pork in crush ground almonds :D.
I do make my own marinades now though, with herbs, honey, olive oil, salt etc...
Heck- I even have my own "shampoo" now, costs probably 1-2 dollars a month in ingredients and power only ;).
I like making my own things; it is satisfying, healthier, cost friendly, etc.
