Don't get me wrong, I like the way that PhotoShop works. It's a great program. However, it's so complicated to use. It's not user friendly in the least. Even the tutorials are confusing! I know that I barely touch the surface of what the program is capable of doing. My husband has a degree in photography and took a full coarse on the program and even he doesn't know how to use it all! Is there a more user friendly program out there that accomplishes as much, with as much quality in the end results, that PS does? Have you used PS and do you feel you can use it well? Do you feel like you know everything there is to know about it or are you as confused about most of it as I am?

Photoshop is a great program as what you've saying. Complicated? Yes I may say but if u know how to used it you can do everything what you want. There's so many video tutorials out there and for free. With this video tutorials you can follow step by step what you need to do. I may suggest you this site for free download

i am using photoshop elements, a more condensed user friendly version. I have been using for years now and learned through the tutorial that comes with it.. a lot of add-ons are available for more ease of use in editing.

It's the industry standard. Most users won't use everything available--but it's nice to have for the one time every year that you do use it.
Depending on what edits you typically use, there are loads of friendlier programs out there. My wife does a lot of b/w conversion, sepia toning, red-eye reduction, and crops and rotations from Windows Live Photo Gallery. I use Adobe Lightroom to do similar stuff. I've heard of Apple Aperture, but never used it. I understand it's similar to Windows Live Photo Gallery. If you just do common stuff like that, using Photoshop is like using a space shuttle to go buy groceries. It'll get you there, but it's a little bit overkill.
However, if you need to do multi-layer images, or complex masking, or any kind of pixel-by-pixel editing, then Photoshop is the way to go.
