Today I found a therapist because I need someone who can listen to me and provide me with good advice while looking at my life from the outside. My family and friends listen but they aren't good listens or they don't understand why or how I feel the way I do. I don't want to continue to feel the way I do when I feel alone because no one listens or understands me so hopefully going to therapy sessions will help me better myself and my train of thought. Maybe having someone to listen to me will help me vent better and no focus on the negative things that I always worry about in life.

I think all you need is a trusting friend not only willing to listen but is always open minded. that he is willing to give not just opinion but good advices. not necessarily physically present but someone who is there whenever you need somebody to talk to. and the best solution, i guess, for you to battle your depression is for you to Pray. God is always there to listen. you surrender yourself to him and ask for his guidance. Stop worrying about negative things. maybe spend your time going to shopping malls, don't just stay home. Develop your other interest, make your self busy always

Dana this is an excellent approach I commend you for taking the initiative in recognizing that a bit of help can be helpful. Some people at times do not recognize that a bit of therapy is essential at times.
I do wish you well and all the best with the therapy.
