I do not believe there is any scientific reasoning behind it but funny how when one does the next also.
What I find even funnier is that it happens even over the phone. Like if it all was done on que, lol

Not only the people but the animals yawn too!
But only the human beings and some kinds of monkeys can yawn when see the other doing same!
Yes - there isn't a teorry that win but I can tell you the resalts of newest reserches.
Acording to them we eventualy do that thing becouse we have the ability to symphatize the feelings and emotions of other people.

Nobody really knows why yawning is infectious but it seems to be a very basic communication which is understood not just by humans but by apes, dogs and cats as well as, probably, other social animals. It seems to indicate that the person/animal yawning is at rest or at peace (rather than just sleepy) and so, when you see someone yawn and it makes you yawn, you are saying, effectively, there is no harm here and no need to be on the alert for danger from within the 'pack' or group.
You can prove that both dogs and cats 'understand' yawning, if you have pets, by yawning yourself when you are at rest with them. You very often find that they will yawn back!

I have often heard that yawning is contagious. Just watching someone yawn makes me yawn. so i do believe there is is some truth in that. Even if I try not to yawn, I will still end up doing it.
