why people lie so much ???

All people lie, that's a fact. Even you lie and I won't believe it if you say that you haven't. That's just the way it is. There will always be times when you're only option is to lie.

Lying for me is actually a way for a person to protect his/her self-esteem. i mean it's a natural defense mechanism. i'm not saying lying is a good thing but it just goes with being human. the only thing is that you don't live your life with lies. because living a life of lies would mean lying to yourself and in the process you are losing yourself. that's how i think of it.

Oh this is my pet hate, people who lie, I just don't understand them, I can usually tell when they are lying at the time but in the end they always forget what they have said in the past and catch themselves out. And once a person has lied to me I never fully trust them again.

I think a lot of people lie because they simply cannot help themselves. They just feel the need to be deceitful a lot of the time. Or perhaps that they really do think that they are not lying. There are a lot of people out there that think that whatever they are saying is the truth, so they are lying to everyone including themselves. They are so far gone that the truth is a lie to tell and all lies are the truth. It all starts the same way. With a simple, innocent little lie, to get out of a tight situation. Sadly, if they get away with it, they might be able to go to the well once again. Then the lies really get a lot larger. Therefore is a sick, sick little downward spiral to an entire pool of lies. It always starts small but eventually you'll get caught, as very few people can keep track with their lies.

Unfortunately, I believe we all at times. People lie to spare others feels, cover their wrong doing, and to make themselves look better then the next guy. I would not lie about my past though. It would be too hard too hard to remember what you told that person. Not a good way to have a relationship of any sort.

People lie because they are affraid. They are affraid of losing something or getting hurt. Sometimes it is not a shelfish thing but they trie not to hurt someone else.

Because with lie living for the moment, it is easier. There are good lies and bad lies. Good lies - when my grandmother asks if I'm try smoke grass, of course I said no, she's an old person, worried! And bad lies, of course, who after come tru and broke hearts an lifes too... Yeah well I sometimes lied, about small things...

I agree with frontvision, everyone lies. Whether it's to protect themselves, or to protect those they love. It sucks when you're on the receiving end of a lie, but that's life. The best you can do is try to surround yourself with honest people.
