It's no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

I am not a cat person. They are far too independent for me and I am allergic to their hair. Give me a dog everytime. I'm a boy and I love the matey camaraderie of doggy friendship. When I am down they get me moving and when I am up, why they play right along. It would be even better if I owned one!! Are you a doggy lover?

Having been BOTH a dog lover & a cat lover, I don't think you give cats enough credit, my friend!!! YES, they are extremely independent, but the owner still has control over them if they will use it!!! Dogs are just more obvious at being loyal & faithful, but cats quietly give the same!!! My Mom always hated cats because they didn't have a personalty...that is...until she met my cat!!! When I cry, my dog lays his head in my lap & cuddles me. My cat stretches up & licks the tears from my cheeks. Yep, I prefer the head in my lap to the tongue on my cheek, but the cat is being just as sweet...if not even a bit sweeter because he had to come down off of "independent tower" to show me his love!!! To be honest, I cannot choose between my furry friends. I love them ALL & they ALL love me back...it's just like having children...NO 2 are alike, but you still love them both!!!!

Cat's have sandpaper tongued LadyM. I'd not have one, but I do understand the companionship that cats can give.

Their tongue is the ONLY negative I can find about a cat. Yet that same tongue is what helps to keep them so well groomed!!! No matter how independent my cat is, I can out stubborn him!!! I don't find feline companionship to be any better than canine companionship. On the other side, I don't find canine companionship to be any better than feline companionship. No matter where it comes from...love is love!!!!

I do understand P1key's aversion to cats. However, I have 3 dogs & 2 cats & much like children, I love them ALL equally!!! My Mom hated cats believing they had no personality; so I only had dogs as a child. A few years after moving out on my own, I had a cat adopt me & I quickly learned they can be as loving & as much company as a dog!!! From a distance they appear to be very aloof. However, close up they slip in a hug & kiss frequently!!! I even had one cat that would fetch. We would play for hours. He would run in front of me & turn on the lights for the room I was entering. After having him live in her house, Mom also changed her mind about cats!!! I also keep my cats inside so they don't kill P1key's birds!!!!

I have two dogs that think I'm the most wonderful person on earth, I'm always beautiful, I always do the right thing and I'm a wonderful provider. They love me unconditionally! I love my dogs, you really should get one. Does the Boss dislike dogs or have you decided they just don't fit your lifestyle? They do take a lot of care and you have to make special arrangements if you want to travel.

Lifestyle and wha do you do when you go away for a few days and can't take the dog with you? Plus the Boss once had a cream blouse and there was this large muddy pawed Irish Setter.....

I've had several mud incidents! My dogs drag in all kinds of stuff on their paws. But having put up with two rowdy boys for 20 years, I can handle two little dogs' messes. It's rather like raising kids again but they never grow up--they just get older.

You're not allergic to their hair. You're allergic to the dander that gets on to their hair when they lick themselves. Sez Ms. Logical... But I like cats and dogs both. Cats a wee bit more though.

I used to have a dog whom I loved dearly when I was a kid. The whole neighbor hood was scared of it and I was kinda proud of it lol. Anyway I don't really know what happened to it but after that dog we never had another one. I started getting scared of dogs and these days I can't even go near one. I'm scared of them. Anyway I do adore dogs. I like watching them at pet stores or somewhere but from a bit far and the same with cats too. So I don't know if I'm a doggy lover or not.

Actually, I'm a cat person. My cat just loves to spend hours sitting in my lap. I like him because he is independent, and will do what he wants, unless he wants attention. That way, if I want to go somewhere overnight, I'm fine, he won't crap allover the place. LOL Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I have nothing against cats other than they don't interest me very much and apart from making me sneeze they insist on crapping in my garden!! I have seen irresponsible dog owners let their animals leave their deposits on unsociable spots too.

OMG, this reminds me of a funny story... I had a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. When I first moved back home (from DC to Georgia) he was no longer in a fenced in yard. So I taught him he had to stay in my parents yard. He did really well at first...EXCEPT he would sneak over to the next door neighbor's yard to do his business. I apologized to her & proceeded to teach him that he wasn't allowed to leave the yard to do his business either. I thought I had him trained to just stay in our yard for EVERYTHING when I looked out the window at just the right moment. He walked over to the property line, turned around, looked back as he backed up. He stopped with his feet in our yard as he hung his butt over into her yard & pooped. Technically, he had NOT left our yard, yet it filled his need to not spoil his own yard!!! I had to laugh as I was impressed with his determination!!! Of course, I ran out & scolded him for pooping in her yard. He looked up at me so innocently as to say,,,"but I was in our yard when I did it!!!" Needless to say it took a while to convince him that "his" yard was the ONLY appropriate place!!!

I am also a dog lover bu t I cannot afford the increase in our rent if I had a dog.A dog gives you so much love and asks so little in returnYou can have a small dog or a cat here bu t they raise your rent. However my roomie wants a cat so I do not know. trouble is she is in the throes of alzenheimer disease and I doubt if she would remember to feed the cat.I could feed it but am told I have an allergy to cat hair. help;.hope her sister talks her out of the notion.

I have a dog, and she is my best friend. It is definately a good thing that she cannot talk as we do because I can only imagine some of the things that she would say! LOL When I am upset, she knows it and will gently lick my hand to let me know she's there, and when I am in a good mood, she shares my joy. I wouldn't trade her at all.

It's VERY OBVIOUS that you haven't met my dogs. When they want something they come up to you and say what they want in their own way. They will not shut up until u pay attension to them and do what they r talking about. U ask questions about what they want and when u get it right they go CRAZZZZY.

I am not a pet person at all. To me they represent a lot of time and money wasted. They are a lot of hard work and they are a constant strain on the wallet. I know lots of people get large amounts of joy from having pets, but that is not me. Although I have a dog and two cats, I only agreed to get them as I knew they would bring joy to my wife and kids. Now my wife is nearly fed up with the maintenance of being a pet owner though as well, as it is just one thing after another with these animals! I always wanted a dog as a child, but my father would never allow it and I resented that a little as a child. I did not want to be that kind of father, so I have put up with the animals, but right now, I could not care less if they disappeared. I prefer to see native animals in a natural environment. That is where my love for animals kicks in. I love to come across native Australian animals just doing their thing as nature intended them to do.

I think cats are really cute but don't think I would own one. I love dogs but am not able to have one in my apartment. I do like them to run free so even if the building allowed it I would not be able to stand confining it because our apartment is small.

Hello Mamma Mamma! I agree with you. If you cannot care for any pet properly then it is best not to have one. Dogs usually need a lot of space. The Boss says that if dogs learned to use the toilet and flushed after themselves then she'd be happy to have one! Do that's that then!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C4pzEgncFY&NR=1 Another argument for a cat...they can be trained to use the toilet & even flush after themselves!!! Also, you can leave for a week as long as you leave plenty of food & water & they're still happy to see you when you get home!!! I know I'm wasting my breath P1key!!!!

I am a little ashamed to say that I am not an animal lover. I was attacked by a dog and am deathly afraid of them. Cats shed too much for me. Fish are too boring. Birds are too noisy. I used to have many pets as a child but was never good with taking care of them so my mom would always give them away to other family.

no- i am not a doggie lover- i am a cat person exactly for that reason. cats are independent- i admire that. when a cat loves you- it is because he really does, not because he depends on you for everything. give me a nice cat over a dog- any day.
