There are different types of fruits, citrus(orange, lemon..), berries(tomato, strawberry..), pomes(apples, pear..) etc.
So I wonder what type of fruit is a jackfruit? And is there any easy way to distinguish them? This is just from sheer curiosity, not any school-related work so there ain't any need for perplexing explanations.
Ah, I also wonder if durian, langka and marang are from the same kind.. These terms are Tagalog(from Philippines) and I don't know the English translation.

Don't know what type but has multiple seeds. We in India have it raw as well as in ripe form. The seeds are also cooked and eaten, it tastes very nice. this is the season for jackfruits, yesterday we prepared a dish with raw jackfruit.

We also eat the seeds after we cook it sometimes through boiling, steaming or smoking. Its seeds are also sweet and the texture is like that of a potato :)
I didn't know it is eaten raw though...Is it hard to chew if the fruit is still unripe?

I don't know which family they come from but I just like to eat them.
Durian also have different variety. Some produce a lot of smell but some have very easy smell.
I guess since this fruit are not from western country, they just don't care enough to categories them into families.

I know jackfruits I eat them haha anyway I live in the Philippines! They are prickly have these skin like thorns but it doesnt pierce the skin if you hold it up against your hands
Durian - many people hate them but some dont because people here says they have a bad odor, like feces, thats what they say I havent tasted one yet
Langka - Very Very sweet and my favorite when ripe and color is yellow, but when not ripe its color is green and people use it for dishes with coconut milk, some people even called is a vegetable haha because its not common to use a fruit in a dish
marang? never heard of it or maybe its not of those that grows on tall trees i see in province
anyway these three have distinct size of thorns and shape of the fruit and the size differs because from those three Langka is the largest, it could get to 1 meter, marang is probably smaller
if youre fond of eating them and seeing the trees and the fruits grow with your eyes youll distinguish them pretty easily
sorry for the long message i got carried away

me too! Some people don't like them because of the smell. But when you freeze them the odor is gone while frozen, and still tastes the same. I also like langka but it is sticky when you eat it with bare hands so you have to oil your fingers before eating some. I've never seen these trees before but it could be dangerous to walk under one as their fruits are very prickly.
I also get carried away when the discussion is interesting lol
