Yesterday a weird event happend in my home country. I live in Guayaquil, Ecuador. A solar halo (sorry for i dont know if the translation is the correct one). For those who dont know what a solar halo is, Its an optical phenomenom that is caused by clouds ( cirrus clouds, above 6000 mts high) which contains ice particles. The light of the sun refracts on these particles to caused a somewhat circular rainbow. I also posted a photo to show you what it looked like for as they say, a picture is worth a million words. And here is a little video as well (I took it from the internet as well as the picture, so credits to the owners). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDvKXw5rxDU The halo caused panic to some people, talks about the end of the world and so on , some even relate it to the catastrophe that happened in Japan and fearing it was radioactive. Anyway, have you ever seen this phenomenom? Ps: Sorry if my explanation wasn´t good enough, I did my best

Wow, haven't seen anything like that. That looks like Son Goku's energy ball, only more transparent.

Lol! I forgot to mention that, there are some photoshopped photos where they show Son Goku doing the genki dama. I also thought about it when I saw it, but that´s because I´m a big fan of Dragon Ball Z Have a nice day, and thank you for the reply

There is also a Lunar Halo similar to the picture you attached but the only difference is the moon is the center of this "halo"..it happens most of the time in our place when the night is bright with clouds.. There is no need to panic or whatever about it...people nowadays becomes so panicky or fearful...

A lunar halo! That sounds really neat as well. You are lucky to be able to see it often. For me, this was a very weird phenomenon and it was the first time it happened around here. I understand that people could be worried, for they tend to increase their paranoia when a catastrophe in other places happens (my best regards to Japan by the way). Thanks for your reply

Yes I did see it once a very very long time back. I was in a graveyard along with my father and brother doing post crematory rituals of my grand mother. My father spotted it through the reflexion in the pool while drawing the water. He showed it to us as if a big catastrophic incident has taken place. You are right it is widely believed world over that the siting of such hallow brings miseries to the world. In our part of the world it is considered as a siege to the sun by bad forces. One has to be believer to believe that whatever happening in Japan is the effect of that.

Hehe well Japan incident dont have anything to do with the halo. I think when this kind of catastrophe happens, people tend to be more paranoid, they fear it would happen where they are in any second. Its just a normal phenomenon (in the sense there is nothing mystical about it). Thanks for your reply Cheers
