When you dine out, do you look for your native food?

Whenever I dine out, whether in my home country or in another country, I don't look for my native food. My reason is I don't want to get disappointed that the food might turn out not the way i do it at home, or in case that the restaurant is excellent, I could still cook my food the way they do. So on occasions that I eat out, I always look for a different cuisine, could be another Asian cuisine as long as I don't cook it at home.

IF you have ever noticed no 2 people can make a dish exactly the same. I can mkae the SAME dish and depending on how i put it together during the preparation and cooking , will depend on the final taste. So it might be fun to see when you order your native food how many slightly different tastes it can have. who knows, you might even like one of them. The other issue is that when you plan on going out for dinner, it should be an experience. So you should plan on a different restaurant with different cuisines. Sometimes I go to sushi, or A BBQ Pit, lobster, Japanese. Chinese etc.

Hi bear! You got a point there....but what I don't want is to get disappointed that my favorite food won't be cooked the way I wanted :( In dining out, it is much much better if planned and try other cuisines for a change. Thanks for commenting and happy mylotting!

Hi accelerator! Hmmm... you have a different sense of food trip LOL! It is really good to try other cuisines aside from the one we normally cook at home and if you are in a foreign country, it is the opportunity to sample the authentic taste. Thanks for commenting. Cheers!

Hello Hexebella, when we dine out, as we are in our home country, we look to dine in a "homely" place. I like to feel that home taste. Blessings!... Dainy

hi Dainy! I believe that your own cooking is unique and no place on earth that you would find it except in your home, isn't it? God bless!

When eat at a restaurant I always try to find some food that I have never tried before, because I love to eat new kinds of food and food from other countries. I can eat my native food in my home or when I visit my family or my friends, and I eat my native food quite often so I think it is really nice to eat something different when I visit a restaurant. In the city where I grew up there are many international restaurants, and I love to visit them and eat food from China, Thailand, India, Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey etc. I am going to visit London in the future and I plan on visiting restaurants where I will be able to eat food from the Phillippines, Malaysia and South Korea, because there are no restuarants from those countries in my own country.

Hi, When there is a chance for me to dine out, I don't have any specific term whether to look for my native food or other cuisine. As long as the food is delicious and unique, I may give them a try. I love to try different kind of cuisine. Although I am mostly eating Asian food, but I don't mind to eat other cuisine like Indian food, italian food, spanish food and etc. I do hope I will have a chance to travel to overseas countries and try their food and snacks. Everytime when I watched those travel channel, they introduced different kind of food from different countries, they look so delicious and It make me feel like visiting the countries to try their food and enjoy the nice view.

Hi shia! It is advisable indeed to try different cuisines when dining out, I'm sure you can find different cuisines in your country as well especially Asian food which are really tasty. Having the chance to travel overseas and have a taste of their local cuisine is another exciting experience as it is really authentic. Thank you for responding and happy mylotting!

Hi Hexebella, When I go out to eat, the last thing I want to choose is food that I can cook at home. For me, the whole point of going out to dine is to sample different foods, tastes and flavours. I love eating Mexican and Italian foods but I think my favourite style food is Asian, either Thai or Chinese.

Hi LeighB! You're right! When dining outside it is the opportunity to sample other cuisines. But there are still other people who love to go to native restaurants, maybe they don't know how to cook! LOL! We have the same taste buds, I always crave for Mexican food and love to eat Asian cuisine like Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese. I like pizza and pasta too, the italian way of course. Thanks for responding and happy mylotting!

What is your favourite Chinese and Thai food? I love the Chinese dish - Tang cu lija and the Thai dish - Khao ka moo. Both of them are pork dishes and each has a very different taste and flavours. Of course the Thai dish MUST be accompanied with raw garlic and chillies.

Oh no if I asked for our native food they would serve up kangaroo and emu and heaven knows what else, and I think that is disgusting, I would prefer to go Thai or chinese

Hi! I would also prefer to taste a cuisine other than native cuisine because I can always get native cuisine in my city. When I am in a different city, I would like to get the feel of special food particular to that city.

Hi dpk262006! Indeed that its nice to discover and taste other cuisines. So when I dine out, I don't go for restaurants that offer the same food I cook at home. Eating is not just a solution for a hungry stomach but an art to enjoy and satisfy our palate. Thanks for commenting and happy mylottting!

I seldom order something that I know how to cook, when I dine out, I would rather having something that I don't know how to make at home. It is okay to have native food though.

Usually no. I quite like cuisines from other parts of the world, as well as trying new dishes. So I prefer other types of food, rather than the one I am used to.

Hi puccagirl! Food is also an adventure that we should try everything new once we have the opportunity. Its good to taste other culture's cuisine on certain occasions coz definitely we won't be cooking these foreign foods in our home. Thanks for responding and happy mylotting!

Of course, I don't eat what i usually eat in our house or in our country. You are in other country to explore what they got and eat what they eat, in short to experience their culture.

Nope. I am a Filipino and we cook our native food almost everyday that sometimes you are not really excited to eat anymore because your taste buds are just so tired eating the same food all over again (not that I am complaining though). So if we have the chance to dine out I always see to it that I eat something different like Japanese food (my fave). :)
