A fake text message warning people that the Fukushima nuclear plant has leaked beyond Japan has been circulated all over Asian countries. The message read:
BBC news Flash: Japan government confirms the leak of Fukushima. Asian countries should take necessary precautions. Close doors and windows If rain comes, remain indoors for 24 hours. Swab neck skin with betadine where thyroid area is. Radiations may hit Philippine at 4pm today.
The BBC has issued no such flash. My dad sent me the same text message, he was very worried. But when i googled it, i found out that it was hoax. So, guys please be aware of this fact...

I wonder if telcos should trace the original source of the text message and prosecute these people for inciting mass hysteria. These people who start such sms are really sick in the mind, and they probably console themselves they are doing good deeds. To me, the situation is already bad without them starting such fires.

Hi. sweetme329. You know this is so sad that people don't have anything else better to do than to play mind games on people. Telling lies is so far out! Why would someone make a lie like this?? It does not make any sense at all! I am glad that it is not true. I know that it gave many people a scare. People should not make up lying hoaxs just to scare someone out of their wits! I hope that many will calm down after being frightened. I tell you, childish liars!

hello sweet,
It could be hoax/fake whatever.
Still we should not underestimate what harm nuke can do to us.
Japan is not that far here in our country...and air is circulating all around the globe.
The only hope we had now is to pray.

I haven't received such sms yet and i thank God for it.
there are people who are making fun of the situation. Instead of thinking how to help they are concocting an idea to trigger more fear and panic to the already fear stricken world.
It pays to be well informed. Read the news of what is the update re the situation. This is the only way we can cover ourselves or protect ourselves from misinformation.

It is getting to the point that scammers are getting so intelligent that they are utilizing all method to defraud people. I just hope no one falls for the gimmicks because the poor person would end up paying double for fraud this way.

The truth is there is some radiation in the air, but we have to be really careful cause the news here in Japan are a little different from what I hear in the uk's and us' newspaper, they are saying things that are alittle far from the truth.
People also have to be careful cause there are FAKE SITES FOR DONATIONS and that needed a caps lock cause if people fall for this scam it's going to be terrible, japanese in the evacuated areas are having trouble even to eat, let alone not receive the money good will people are sending.

Yes, while some other people are all consumed at the worry about japan. Some get the idea of hoaxing or spamming messages, circulating ill content about what happened to japan. Their main goal is not to warn people but to discomfort and let people worry about something that is not true. It's disappointing to know such a phenomenon, and to think they are humans too. :(
