Facebook account deactivation

Recently, I decided to deactivate my facebook account for some personal reasons and I was kinda clueless how it works because this is my first time to do that since I decided to join the network in 2007.. I just wanted to know how long it takes before your account is permanently disabled after you have deactivated. I just wanted to stay away from the network for some reasons, but I also fear that it might be disabled for good. It is my only way to connect with friends and I don't want to lose that connection that I had with them.. so, I hope you can give me hints. But it's only been like a couple of days though.

According to facebook there is a 15 day grace period after that you will loose it completely so if you decide you only have that time period. Maybe re-activate and turn off all alerts and when you decide you can return and turn alerts back on.

Ok, I guess I will reactivate my account from time to time in order to keep it from being permanently disabled. Good to know that there is enough time to keep it deactivated because as I said, i don't intend to lose it.

Cool. I don't think I would keep my account deactivated for that long, though. Just wanted to see... but I was fearing that maybe it will be deactivated for good for just a few days.Thankfully not.

When myspace started my oldest son encouraged me to join,so I did. Then when Facebook started he said that it was a lot better then myspace .I joined Facebook and went on it a few times. Then life got too busy and I did not get on for over a year.. Then when life slowed down,I went back on to Facebook and had no problem signing on at all and have been in there every day since.

I think deactivation is different from simply not being active on Facebook. I guess even if you do not update your facebook account, there is no problem. But if you deactivate, i think people will not be able to see your profile at all.

Hi. abbypringles. I want to say that it may take up to a month before it is permanently disabled. I just can't be too sure though. I have deactivated one of my Facebook accounts on today. I don't really use this account and I was tired that I was not getting any messages except from a Pastor.

Right, that is also what I heard from friends. I have been looking up on the net on how long you can keep your account deactivated but couldn't find a definitive answer. I will make sure that I don't deactivate my account for that long, then.
