hello,
I am a college student and I really mean that I am having a hard time to listen carefully in my professor (I can't focus) and then end up that I cannot get what she/he was teaching about. I am having a hard time to cope up in some lesson? how can I deal with it?
just need some advice,
thanks a lot in advance

Whenever I'm feeling sleepy in class or I catch myself thinking (or worrying) of something else, I just take out a piece of paper and write notes from the discussion to get myself back to reality.

I am a student too. And the only time I can't concentrate is when I'm really tired or sleepy. Are you tired these days? Or are you not getting enough sleep?? These might be the problems.

I think what you could do first is to determine why you can't focus in her class in the first place? Is it in the manner that the professor is teaching? Does this happen to all of your classes? or is it only in this one?
Afterwhich, you could try to find ways to make yourself feel interested with the subject. I think studying or reading before-hand your topics is a great way to keep your interest level high. Further, why don't you try to ask questions to clarify things. Personally, I think when you become active in class rather than just sitting down, you would not feel sleepy or bored.

hello,
Every time I focus in that class I cant focus there are so many destruction in my mind and in the room. Sometimes when I am interested in the topic I cant even help myself but to do something and then come out that I already destructed.
Yes, I should follow your instruction maybe I should study at night so that even I don't get it in the class I can understand it my own.. right?
thanks lot

Yeah, there are a lot of distractions around. If you study at night, or read ahead every night, that's the first time year encounter the words, then if you go to class the next day and the teacher explains it - that's the second time which makes understanding the topic (regardless what topic) easier and simpler. So when you go for an exam, you won't need to cram about it because you've already come across those words or thoughts more than once!

This may seem a little inconvenient but have you tried recording the professor discussions and then listening to the again later. To make some sense out of what he is saying. There is also the possibility that you are not really interested in the class. Therefore, your mind wonders do to lack of interest. I had this happen to me. I found my interest and away I went. I wanted to know more. Best Wishes!
