Some people are born very competitive.
It seems that competitive genes are inherited in some people.
Even when they were young, they compete with their friends and siblings. They compete consciously and unconsciously.
If they hear that their boss praise their colleagues, they make up their minds to work better than their colleagues.
Some people hate competition of any sort.
It does not bother them that they have less toys, less money or less marks than other people.
They are happy with what they have, and they never think of getting more and more, or earning more and more.
They cannot understand why others are competing so fiercely.
Do you like competitions? Are you born competitive?

I not born competitive but I believe on competition because in the twenty first century competition is more in every field and yes I can face it.
Because I have a power of confidence and positive thinking and now I arrange one competition in my small town that is "Computer Talent Search 2011" and you know how many students participate this exam total 750 students participate and 15000 prizes are there all idea is mine and paper preparation and checking is only by me.
So I am always ready for any competition. Thanks to share this question

Hi Surekharathi, that sounds very interesting.
I think the students and teachers welcome the friendly competition, and the prize for the winners too.
I doubt I have the energy to organize such a big event.
I guess I am just too plain lazy for this sort of big event organizing.
I think the competitions in the world are getting tougher and tougher. The workers in developing countries are hungry for jobs.
They are competing with the workers from developed world.

Not always but sometimes I can be really competitive. Like in the subjects I'm good at, I don't like it when other score more than me. I want to be the one with highest scores in my those subjects. I do love competition when it comes to video games and races lol.

Hi Thatgirl, I think I am too lazy.
I do not even like to compete in game. I am just too lazy for leveling, and just want to spend time talking!
I can understand what you mean by being the best in the subjects you are good at. If you were top in Mathematics, it is hard to swallow the fact that you are now the top five.
You definitely have to regain your position.

Yep true day . About games though, couple months ago i had joined this club where we had to run like crazy and we always had races. I couldn't run much and hated it when people ran faster than me. I quit lol.

Hi Yugasini, I think it is good for you to set personal goal and target for making money online.
I think you will be happier to see earnings increase, instead of spending time trying to compete with others.
Some of us take life easy, since we know that life is too short to spend on competition.

I know that there are two sides to this issue. Personally, I am one person who likes competition. I am a very competitive person, I have trained several students in competitions and I kinda don't like some who do not care because this will affect their performance. The spirit of competitiveness is the one that makes people excel and go beyond human limitations. Competition improves the way things are done in this world.

Hi Cutie18f, those who are competitive will enjoy competitions and training very much.
However, those who are naturally contented and satisfied with life find competitions very stressful and meaningless.
I think having a balance view of competitions is very important as well.
I mean, when competition is on, all the competitors are our enemies.
Once competition is over, everyone becomes friends.
That is the healthy way of using competitive spirit.

Hi Prabu, I think you are a born winner in this case.
Not all of us love competition as much as you do.
In this case, you probably becomes an expert in your own field easily.
I hope that you can make more friends and learn more things through learning and competitions.
Those who refuse to talk to their friends after losing a game are not good loser. They miss the whole point of competition.

Er.i think i am not a competitive person, but it doesn't mean i never did some compititive things.sometimes, you want to prove your ability, sometimes you just want to realise your dream, in a word,i don't like people born with compititive, but it doesn't mean can't compete anything.

Hi Isadora, I understand what you mean.
Competitive spirit does not mean that we have to compete in everything and with everyone.
It is good enough to keep on improving until we are experts in our own field.
I am not really competitive too, especially when it comes to challenging others. Even when playing online games, i am too lazy to be competitive.
I mean, life is very short, just enjoy it.
However, I like to keep on improving for the sake of satisfaction. It is good to do things faster and better.

I am not in favor of competition, rather I believe in cooperation. It's my belief that we need more Cooperation and less Competition. I believe cooperation can, and has changed this world and should be taught in school, and that professional sport teaches our children wrongly, (that might is right). We can take a lesson from WW2 when Nazi Might was put down by Cooperating world powers.

Hi Scheng, I wouldn't call myself competitive but I do a lot of online quizzes and have been lucky enough to have won a fair few times, a Wii Fit, a Razor chopper bike, £75, £25, £50 and other vouchers in the past. My son is very competitive though, he likes to win and I am in the process of teaching him that it is the taking part that counts when he doesn't and gets upset. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie, it seems that your son is very different from you.
it is probably a good thing for him to get competitive, since the world is getting very competitive now.
Many parents are worried that their children have to compete with talented people from developing countries.
It is true that a competitive spirit makes a person upsets when he loses.
You are very wise to teach him about winning and losing. After all, we cannot win every time.
What is important is the process of learning, doing things, and seeking improvements every day!

Once in a while, I enjoy a good competition, but in general, I spend more time reading, writing, and overall just working than anything else. I know that when it comes down to it, I am a good competitor, but it doesn't take priority for me. As long as I am always doing my best, I could care less what someone may have or do that I don't.

Hi Lynnemg, I do not like competitions every day too.
There are some people who turn the office into a battleground.
They tend to compete with their colleagues over everything.
If the boss praises their colleagues for doing a good job, they will find fault and send nasty emails.
I think those are the people who make life more miserable for others.
I do not mind competing with myself for certain things, such as finish work early, so that I do not need to stay back in the office.

Healthy competition must be observed diligently even when you lost from it. The thing is that, most people think that winning can give them their lives and ego to the fullest. Never give up with what you think is right in competition. The more values you put into it, the more healthy the competition is.

Hi Fx, it is hard to differentiate between healthy competition and unhealthy competition.
I think parental guidance is very important in this aspect.
Some kids are so competitive, and they are also jealous when others have better toys than them.
They may even fight with their friends in order to get the new toys of their friends.
That is very unhealthy competition.
Most of us shed off the unhealthy competition when we see how our friends refuse to talk to us anymore.
Experience is a good teacher.
At least we can learn what is healthy competition.

I'm a competitive person and I like competition. I like competition because whenever I have competition I tend to work a lot more harder. Like for instance when I was trying to loose weight, I wasn't motivated enough. But, the minute my friend started working out, I didn't want her to loose weight before me so I motivated more then. I find a little positivity in competition.

haha EstiiBabii, that is a very good form of competition.
At least you find motivation, and winning or losing does not affect the friendship with your friend.
I think it is good that you know yourself so well, and manage your competitive spirit well.
I do not like those who compete with their friends, and friendship suffers in the end.

from an athlete's standpoint, competition is necessary.i was a member of basketball and volleyball varsity teams in highschool.i always wanted to win.that keeps me going.when i lose,i get frustrated that i end up practicing and training a couple of hours than usual.from a student's standpoint, competition is one key to learning.in my kindergarten years,my mother said i easily get angry when i fall behind by 1 point compared to my classmate's score. What upsets me the most,my mother recalled, was when i fail to get the perfect score.i was like that all throughout my schooldays.and to tell you honestly,i do not regret it because i was o n the top of my class eversince.
Competition is healthy as long as it is handled the right way.it becomes unhealthy when you step on others or you violate the rights of others just to win.let us put dirty politics as a good example.an honest politics is the one that is driven by the honest elections.dirty politics,on the other hand, violates the rights of others just for a politician to win.
There are so many examples where we can view competition as either good or bad.and my intuition would always tell me that competition is good if handled properly.

Hi Rencarl, I think you have a great mother.
Your mother is probably the one who curbs your unhealthy competitive spirit when you are young.
I mean if you get angry when you have one mark less than your classmate, that is an unhealthy spirit.
The good competitive spirit is to motivate a person to work harder, instead of getting angry for past failure.
Your mother probably spends many hours teaching you about good and bad competition, and correcting your viewpoints and emotions.
It is good that you post this comment, and share some examples about bad competitions.

Good day.
No matter what the competition is, there is a high possibility that the competition will lead to quarrels and fighting. But many people like to compete even competing their selves.
@scheng1 (24649)

Hi Romarcharity, I think if those people compete with themselves, instead of competing with others, that is better.
I mean if they want to break some kind of personal records, that is a motivation for them to do better.
However, I agree that too competitive can lead to quarrels.
Those who always want to compete with their friends, their siblings and colleagues will lose valuable friendship.

Hi Fpsjammer, glad to hear that.
I just hope that you maintain a balance view of competition. Winning and losing are not the most important aspect of competition.
Making friends, and learning from competitors and yourself are more important than the final result.
Hope you can remain motivated and perform to the best of your ability.
