I brought up the title for this discussion in a previous discussion post, I posted yesterday asking What Celebrities people were tired of hearing and reading about ? Now I would like to touch on the topic of Common Sense, I would like your comments on whether or not you think Common Sense is dead or buried or is it someone hiding, waiting to come out ? On today's news in my area there was a story about a drug bust that brought about an unusual discovery, It took place in small town outside of my area here in Missouri, it seems a drug raid took place in a home and besides finding the usual drug paraphenalia, it was discovered that there was an unlicensed day care going on and some five or six children were being cared for , the woman who was caring for the children in the home , allegedly had some drug items in her hands when the raid occurred. Now I pose this question, I understand in this day and age when there is much unemployment and people are going back to school and or working or looking for work, don't you think the parents of these children should have taken the time to carefully do their research on this home, the caregiver to make sure that their children were being cared for in safe and healthy home environment ? These parents did not do enough research on the situation and clearly put their children in the care of someone who was putting them in danger. As it turns out the children's parents were contacted and all of the children were taken to doctors for examinations to make sure they were in no way harmed by the illegal activity going in that unlicensed day care home . By the way the law enforcement officials are looking for the woman's husband. You can also mention your own examples of common sense thrown by the wayside. Is it that some people don't have it ? have no idea what it is ? or has it just completely been buried ?

Common sense is something that is really a lost virtue to say the very least. Some people don't really think a lot of things through to say the very least. Actually that might be a bit of an understatement, they really do a lot of things that they really should not do to say the very least. If you have children in your home, even in a semi-regular basis, then it is not a good thing. Still common sense is really a dying art. There are more people doing more things that you would think would be common knowledge that you really should not do. However, a lot of people are still are really not doing things that they should and others are suffering for them. There should really be a class on common sense. There should not be, but its needed. It is a lot more useful than a lot is really taught in schools these days.

Mom, I'm starting to feel that common sense these days are going out of style. It seems like people are coasting through life without using the brains that God gave them. As for your story it seems to me that these parents seemed to not care where they place offspring during the day. If they cared they would have done some research to see where their child was going and who would be watching them, and most importantly if the enviroment was safe and child friendly. Someone is being a total epic failure as a parent. Again, as far as common sense goes, many people in this day and age lack it. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's true. The idiot woman who ran that daycare not only did she not care about her saftey, but she didn't once think about the kid's saftey while she was participating in illegal activities.

You'd think people had more care for others in their minds, but--like Captain Jack Sparrow (of the recent Pirates of the Caribbean 'epic') says--"There are only two things that matter in life: what a man can do, and what he can't." My example: Kamp's Deli, down the street. They're really more a nightclub nowadays, but they've kept the deli to keep their 'restaurant'-license. Anyway, what really bothers me is that (though the parking-lines were good when they used to have an open patio in front of their entrance) they now have a caged patio with one, small entrance, and it bothers me when someone parks directly in front of that entrance. Aren't there Fire Codes, Kamp's?
