I wish I had your problem. My mom passed away at the young age of 60. But I would think telling her how much you love her is always a good start. On my mom's last birthday my siblings and I got together and gave her and her home a makeover. We chipped in and purchased new tiles for her floor, my sister's did her hair, her nails, and her toes. And after I finished laying the tiles with my brothers, I gave her a foot massage. The physical contact helped me to transmit how i really felt about her. I think she was most happy because we spent the entire day with her.

I am sorry to hear about your mum, but the present you gave her was so sweet. This is something I would like to give to my mum too :) Maybe not for the 60th BD, but just for mother´s day etc... Thank you for cheering your experience :)

Thanks you for those words. Mom passed almost 18 years ago. But as someone that is advanced a bit in age, my best birthday presents have been spending the day with those I love. My daughter and my grandchild namely. Best quality gift in my opinion.

ptower76 has the best idea for gift any one can give their older parent, the things they can't do for themselves and time, mostly time. Time to listen and really hear what they have to say, an interest in their lives when they were young. I would give any thing if my kids and grandkids had any real interest in any thing I had to say but they only interrupt me and each other.

Then the best thing for your mom would probably be spending time with her on a girls day or night out go out to lunch and then do a spa thing at home. Thats what I would like. I would rather buy things my self so I can get just what I want. Even when The kids ask and I tell them I usually don't get what I want.

I love to listen my granny :) She is over 80 already and times were absolutely different when she was younger :) With my mum it usually doesn´t go to the memories because she feels to young for that :D She feels so young to me, it is funny to think that she is also a granny already and for 4 grandchildren already :) Fifth is coming :)

Hi missmissy and a warm welcome to you to myLot! You are asking about a special gift and yes love of course would be the most memorable and special gift my question would be do you have a set budget? Only reason why I am asking is because, what does she like? make it so it is something you know she would like. Some things that come to mind is that perhaps a day for the both you to get your hair washed and curler-ed then take her to a lovely lunch. Something like a girls day out. If the beauty salon is over budget something along those lines where you tell her prior that the girls are having a day out and you and she sit somewhere and reminisce about the good ole days. I betcha you would have her laughing so hard she will not forget this special day out as the girls. What do you think along these lines?

I think a lovely personal present would be a hamper made by yourself. Include anything your mother likes her favourite foods, perfume, face creams and flowers. It doesn't have to be large and is alot cheaper than buying one.

As I am making my own jewelry, I thought I would make some for her...But it feels too everyday thing to give for the great BD, as I am making the jewelry every day...

I guess make an album for her pictures when she was younger up to her recent years, present it nicely as if you are making a scrapbook for her..Give her also lot of kisses and hugs, with flowers of course. You can also invite someone she long to see for a long time..

you can buy or make a letter and tell how much you love her, how important she is to you and how she affect your life and your siblings. you can also ask your brothers and sisters to have a mini reunion on her birthday and make a small surprise like sing for your mom or just perform something that you think she will very much appreciate.

Flowers are always a delight. Go to a good florist and have a vase or arrangement made up. Make sure that it uses long lasting flowers so that it will last her for at least a week or more. The most precious gift is to show her that you love her.
