A friend of mine who once said that "eating lots of protein will cause your kidneys to work hard and eventually can cause kidney damage". Because I plan to increase muscle mass with routine weight training that would be offset by higher protein consumption. Is consuming 300 grams of egg white/ days (outside of the daily menu) is still in safe condition of protein consumption" I am a 28-years-old man, doing weight training 3 times a week. If anyone can give an opinion about this.

If you are doing weight-training, your body will NEED that protein to rebuild muscle. It will be used up and won't be sitting around to be processed by the kidneys. I also think that the source of the protein matters. Lean protein will be better for you than greasy hamburger! I think that amount of egg whites is very safe, and remember, if you are worried about your kidneys, drink lots of water!

Consulting your doctor and keeping him or her in the loop is always the best way. If you avoid steroids and make sure your muscle comes from good, old-fashioned exercise, you should be ok. But you will need to take in extra calories, or else you will lose weight from exercising instead of gaining muscle! Men need more protein than women, which is something that a lot of general nutrition guides neglect. In Canada, we're always told that carbs should be 60% of calories, with proteins and fats being 20% each. However, that is probably too many carbs for anyone (it's the wheat and grain farmers who suggest this, LOL and they might be a bit biased) and for men that ratio is definitely off. 45-50% healthy complex carbs and fibre, then 30-40% protein from a variety of healthy sources, and the rest as healthy fats is a good and safe way to go. Everyone should adjust for their individual needs as they see how their body reacts to anything they eat or do. Good luck!

Hi Dear Aryardian! Please don't take the issue of eating anything excess lightly ! Our body is tuned to digest certain things in certain way. Please remember any thing in excess can upset the balance in your body and you may have some other problem because of this! From the experience I am suggesting kindly contact some expert before undertaking any such venture so that he can suggest you the routine along with the ingredients to be consumed in order to increase your muscle mass.It is a science and should be best left to the experts! All the best!

So important to drink a lot of water when taking a lot of protein. I am 210 pounds and used to workout 5-6 days a week for 6+ hours a day(it was my job). At that time I was consuming 300-500 grams a protein a day. For your purposes you dont need that much protein. You could probably get away with 1 gram per 2 lbs of body weight. If you start working out more than 5 hours a week I would up it to about 0.75:1, and any thing over that to 1:1. Good luck!
