what do you usually do on your way to work?

this would apply primarily for those who commute on their way to work, or go home from work. though if you drive, your comment is still appreciated. =) on my way to work, it would take two short rides by land, and a 40-minute ride by a ferry. i'm sure that commuting time could be productive. but since my work deals with confidential designs, which prohibits me to take my work outside of the company premises, there is nothing much to do but to chat with others and/or doze off. how about you? how do you spend your time prior to reaching the office? meditation, perhaps? or finalizing a report, maybe?

I live quite close to my place of work at present, but I did commute via train and bus for several years. My usual approach was to buy a newspaper on the way to the station. I would complete the crossword and if there was still time I would read some of the articles. The whole idea was to occupy my time during the journey.

i would also want to do that. however, i get dizzy whenever i read while riding. i dunno maybe due o low blood pressure or a problem with the eyesight. i don't usually have motion-sickness. but when i read, or even have my head low for some time while riding, then that gets me dizzy. thanks for the response. it has been two years and you still found this discussion interesting.

well for me, since i commute and my travel time going to work usually takes around 35- 45 minutes I use the time to meditate and pray. It is a also the time to take down notes on what i needed to to do for the whole week, And when I got stuck in the traffic, i just play a game in my iphone.

sometimes i play in my mobile phone too. but i know i shouldn't be using it much for games since i do not carry along a charger with me. nice way to spend time, though.

I listen to the radio and sing along and pray that I have no accidents and pray that I have a good day at work and I go the back way because I have fear of Highways and that is most of the time too much traffic and crazy drivers on it anyway!

kinda scary to start the day for you. i do not think, nor do i expect , any accidents on my way to work. really. sure i may think of lots of things (nor do i think of anything in particular), but i am sure that i do not think of anything negative.

I usually give myself a good amount of time to get ready before I go to work. I'm a part time student and a part time employee, so before work i'm either trying to relax or studying. I usually give myself 20-30 minutes to get to work. I work downtown so traffic is always crazy. So while commuting i'm either listening or commuting in pure silence, whatever I'm feeling like that day.

that maybe the best thing to do. i can imagine there's no better option. considering all the other commuters, i wouldn't be able to do anything that requires a little more concentration.

that's what i used to do. everytime i am in the graveyard shift in my previous job, i plug my earphones and be oblivious to most of anything else on my way home.

Sometimes I drive, but most of the times my husband drop me off at my work place. We chat all the way to my work place, talk about anything under the sun.

Well when I was working I would normally listen to my satellite radio on the way to work. I would listen to Howard Stern in the morning and on the drive home I would listen to this channel octane, awesome heavy metal music. It passed the time and I enjoyed my commute.

I sing and pray softly as I thank God for another added day in my life, renewed strength and energy such that His leading and guidance be upon me throughout the day. =)

I use the time to dream up story ideas for fanfiction. Any brilliant ideas I get, I enter in my cell phone's notepad section to save for later. :)
