I'm one that keeps my books up on what I spend and I got frustrated last week when I got a overlimit charge for paying my car payment. I keep track of what I spend and what I deposit and I had enough money to pay my car payment and it showed that I didn't have enough money. I deposited money in there that was more then enough to pay my car payment two days before I paid it. I go to the bank and bring my deposit slip in and they say it is my fault. They said that I have 3 more overlimit charges coming in the mail Urr. They say that it started when I wrote a $8.00 check for my sons group pictures. What is strange is I deleted it from what I had in my account too. This whole situation doesn't make since and It is madening when you can't prove that you are right when you know you are. I don't even know how much money they think I have now. I should have had a lot more then what the car payment was because I even subtracted somethings that are auto debited that haven't been took out yet. That makes me all messed up. It makes me feel that businesses sometimes mess up and don't want to admit it.It is scary you can trust anyone. Sorry to have to let all of my frustrations out about this. What do you think about this situation?

Did you talk to a manager? They cant just dismiss you like that by saying its your fault. You should show them your proof and that you`re keeping track of it. They need to explain to you what happened. Sounds f`d up to me. I`ve had my share of bad experiences with banks too. The only thing I did was change banks. :/

I don't think we have TD Banks here.10 dollar overdraft fee is cheap. My bank it is $25.Chase is ridiculous wow $178. That would be a mess. It would be real hard to catch back up on getting a overdraft there.Thank you for trying to help and I'm glad that you found a good bank!

Hey, I switched from Chase bank to a smaller local bank and I couldnt have been happier. It`s called TD bank. I dont know if they have it in your area, but i didnt have any problems. I did overdraft with them, but guess how much I had to pay? 10 bucks. Compared to the 178 dollars I had to pay with Chase.

Hi marge.... Something similar happens to me a few years ago. Made my car payment by post dated check. one month I receive a letter from the bank stating that I didn't make 2 month payment for the car. I was furious, went to the bank to settle the matter. The bank clerk told me sarcastically that if I cannot afford to pay for the car just let them take it back. I was furious. I put money in the account but the payment was not made. After several hour at the bank, finally I found out that my checks was kept by a lady officer who was on maternity leave. I was baffled, how come this lady can keep my checks. I seems that my account was the last she handled when her water broke and she just dump all my check in he drawer and went to the hospital. The bank officer apologizes for the mistake. But what done is done, it took me another week just to settle the lawyer letter demanding that I pay my car installment. I was really stressed that time. I really can relate to what happen to you.

Personally to me something does not sound right, and if I were you I would have requested to see someone who could explain my account a little more. This would be Very frustrating if it was me, and I know I would have to get down to the bottom of it. I know I am glad I have online banking available with my account which I utilize all the time, and call my bank almost immediately when I see something there out of the ordinary for sure.

I have had that happen before. If it gets too out of hand, I would just change banks. Are there charges that are in your account that you don't know what they are? It is possible that someone else got your account number from somewhere (a debit card?) and charged something. I would be careful. I don't know what bank you use (and it doesn't really matter), but I know if it was the first time that it happened, I often had banks forgive at least one of the charges. I have threatened to take my money out if they didn't and it usually worked. If it didn't, then there are other banks out there. Good luck with that! Have a great week!!!

As soon as I get my bank statement I will be checking it over to see if it shows something that shouldn't be there or should be there. Thank you for your concerns and for commenting. You have a great week too!

I know how you feel. My records have NEVER agreed with my bank statement in all the time since passbooks were eliminated. There is always a large discrepancy. Even when I start off the moneth using the balance the bank says I have, I still can't make it work. But, I obviously don't know what I am doing and the banks have machines to do the calculations.

I do the same thing. I write everything down in a book when I buy something and when I deposit money in my account and balance it right away. When my bank statement comes in I check mark next to everything that they counted already in the statement and then go by what they say I have in the account and subtract what they say from the things they didn't count to see how much money I would have by what they say and it is always different then what I put down.My husbands pikepass bill always gets deducted from his account from them the day they send out the letter to let us know we found out so we don't get in a mess we deduct it at the beginning of the month and don't put a date on it so we don't get surprises from that and this time even having that in our account still and it not being deducted we had lots less then what our calculations said. It was real upsetting. It never got straightened out!

I agree that banks can be terribly frustrating! This past summer i went to Ireland on a group tour, and while using an ATM, I tried to take out $150. the machine processed the request and returned my card - but didn't give me my money! When I checked my bank balance immediately afterward, it said I had withdrawn the money, although i had nothing. i went inside to complain, but they told me there was nothing they could do - I would have to go to my home branch and discuss it with them there. Of course, when i finally got home, they had no way of proving whether or not I had taken the money, as they did not have access to the Irish bank's records, etc. etc., long story short, I lost $150 because of a faulty machine. This kind of thing makes me so angry, especially because the bank will do nothing about it! Put that on top of all the restrictions and extra rules and obstacles they've been putting in place the last few years, and it makes you want to start keeping your money in a sock drawer. I would recommend switching over to a Credit Union - they are much smaller than banks, so you actually get to know your Credit Union representative, and they really do go out of their way to everything they can for you. most of my assets are now with a Credit Union, and it makes life much easier!

Oh gosh I feel your frustration because I have had my share. I am usually very, very careful and for the bank to make a mistake would drive me insane. In fact one time I had to pay a huge tax payment of $11,000. So I had to get a loan so I personally took the check into the bank and a new employee, although I put all accurate information on the check when I endorsed it and gave my id, he deposited my check to someone's elses account. You can only imagine how livid I was and although the bank took their sweet time to figure it out. I was still stuck with the IRS penalty so I certainly know the banks can make mistakes!

That has happened to me before too where the bank put my deposit in someone elses account. That is why I thought it would be straightened up and they might of done the same thing this time. They looked on the computer and said that it was my fault. They showed that deposit and they said that after depositing even after that one that I'm talking about that I still am in the negative. Man, That doesn't make sense at all because I keep track of what days and amounts that I pay my bills and deposit money. I even mark off things when my bank statement comes in. It makes me confused because there is somethings I know that hasn't made it to the bank yet. So, I don't know what is going on. It is real frustrating when you don't know how to prove that they messed up and not you. Thank you for sharing your experience and commenting.

Want to know what I think? I think you should take your banking business elsewhere & then blog everywhere about how they treated you. The buggers! Why can't they get it right, especially in this day & age? They should have better tracking systems & issue you with receipts for cash deposits. I had issues with a certain telecommunications company I signed up with some time ago & when they made a mistake I let them know about it & stayed on the phone until the problem was resolved. It was well worth it. My original provider was returned to me at no extra cost & I was reimbursed for all my telephone charges for the three months that I put up with them. Banks should have the same sense of responsibility & accountability these days. It just isn't good enough! Hope it all works out for you in the end

It does make me want to go to a different bank I've been banking with them for quite a few years now. I have had about 3 different situations happen but the others got straightened up. This one was the worst. Thank you for sharing your advice and experiences! You have a good week!

From now on you must be very careful with all your payments. always take note all your payments on the date that you paid them. and do not make check payments if not necessary. you pay in cash and ask for a receipt and always keep the receipt. make one folder for all your bills and payments with receipts stapled on it. that's really frustrating but what can you do, it's a lesson learned. Anyways, next time just be sure that you have all the bills listed 1 week before due dates.

What made me frustrated is that I do write down when I pay a bill. What date I paid it, the amount and when I put money in my bank account I do the same thing. I keep a good record of everything. When my statement comes in I mark off the ones that the bank showed that got paid for. It is mind boggling. Thank you for commenting. You have a good week.
