randy said that among all of the american idol seasons, this one has the most talented singers, but it seems that this statement was a little bit exaggerated if you've been watching the show recently. do you remember kendra chantele, one of the wild card candidates, which include naima and ashton? she should've been great given the current competitors' performances? naima has got her own flavor in music, but she constantly sings pitchy, which not really helping her. ashton, the first to get out in the top 13, should not have been among the wild card picks. Kendra has got the most talent among them all, and even as compared to this week's contestants, she would have definitely been hoarding compliments from the judges, given her range of voice and technique. she could've been great, and may have been one of the great upsets that could've changed idol.. never mind the loss of such talents as crystal bowersox and adam lambert. they're bound to be great musicians without being the AI winner, if kendra had made it even in the top 8, she could've made a good career in the future, don't you think?

I agree with you that Randy is waaay off base if he thinks this years contestants are the most talented. Of course, it is his job to try& make this season to sound the best!!! I find almost every season before this one to have much more talented singers!!! I find most of this years talents to be good singers...but far from great singers!!! I don't know that I can agree with you about Kendra as I don't remember her nor her voice. I'm sorry, she just didn't leave an impression on me. So far, my favorites this year is Scotty McCreery the country singer from Garner, North Carolina & Jacob Lusk from Compton, California. I really enjoyed Ashton Jones & was saddened to see her go & I like Pia Toscano but don't know if she's got what it takes to win. I didn't agree with Karen Rodriguez leaving last week, but I don't know who I would have chosen to take her place unless it was Naima Adedapo. I liked Naima in the auditions & faceoffs, but she has lost something over the last few weeks!!!
I'm finding this seasons contestants to be equally talented...so that makes it hard to decide who should go. However, I am NOT finding them to be as talented as many contestants from previous seasons. Kelly Clarkson of Season 1 had a fantastic voice, but she couldn't hold her own in the music industry. I think it was Season 6 when Carie Underwood came onto the scene & now she is one of Country Music's top performers!!! Kelly Pickler is another Idol alum who has made a career for herself once given the chance!!! Clay Aiken came in second on Season 2 & he keeps having hits & misses as the years go by. Ruben Studderd winner of Season 2 more or less disappeared because he couldn't handle the pressure of the business either. I like Crystal Bowersox, but she hasn't done much since last year. I loved Adam Lambert, but he has fallen flat by insisting on doing everything his way!!! He was offered a great opportunity & turned it down to do things his own way. I believe we have seen better talent in losers of previous seasons than we will see in the winners of this season!!!

I see that yo're an avid AI fan, ladymarissa. i've only seen the past two seasons of american idol, where adam lambert and crystal bowersox should've been winners. i think kelly clarkson had most of her time in the business. i never really knew clay aiken, but heard he's a good one.
i don't think ashton would qualify as a competitor among the current performers. she does't have anything special in her, unlike naima, who jennifer told of experiencing the goosies after her performance with the african dance. quite good, actually. you should've seen kendra chantele. she could've been among the best competitors this season (and i'm being quite biased, but she's really good if you've seen and heard her), alongside james, pia, jacob, and casey. the rest doesn't quite bring over-the-top performances. maybe haley, but she has a weak presence when on-stage.
if no one among pia, james, casey, or jacob make it as this season's winner, it'll be quite of an upset for millions.

I find it interesting that you used the words "avid fan" as I don't even like the show!!! It has very little competition during its timeslot, so I end up watching it as it is the ONLY thing on at the time!!! Plus, since joining myLot, I know there will be a discussion on AI every week & I can't have an opinion of I haven't watched it!!! I heard what Jennifer said about Naima & I didn't agree with her. It was one of Naima's better performances, but I didn' have one chill run up my arm!!! I appreciated the difficulty of her dance; but with her being tall & skinny, I thought she looked awkward while dancing!!! I loved Pia Toscano's performance & TOTALLY disagreed with Jennifer on her assessment that Pia needs to move around more. Even Jennifer's husband legendary singer Marc Anthony said he totally disagreed with Jennifer!!!Much like Marc, I think she has a gorgeous voice & I don't understand what more they want!!! My God, it is a "SINGING" competition & once they win with their voice, they can learn to incorporate moving around the stage into their act!!! Anyway, looking back...Carrie Underwood & Jennifer Hudson are the only ones who have carried their time on Idol into a major recording contract. Carrie is the ONLY winner to have made it big after winning Season 4. For as big as Jennifer Hudson has made it, she was booted off Season 3 by time she had reached the top 7. Jennifer was blessed to be offered one of the major roles in the movie Dreamgirls & her career took off from there. So, America does NOT always get it right!!! I think most just blindly follow what the judges say & I seldom agree with them!!! I don't see any "major" stars coming out if AI, but I do think it offers exposure to many talented young people!!!! Adam Lambert has produced several albums, but he's NOT setting the world on fire with his performances!!!
My top 2 for the males are Scotty McCreery & Jacob Lusk and I still don't know which of those 2 I think is my favorite!!! I think Scotty is more mainstream than Jacob & could make it BIG ion country music; but I believe Jacob has a gorgeous voice!!! Pia is my favorite for the girls. I like Haley, but I don't see her as being consistent enough to win. Naima comes & goes with me as she is /NOT consistently good....she only good occasionally!!!
I'm thrilled the judges saved Casey last night as I find him a good all-round performer & didn't think he needed to go home this early. To me, he is a MUCH better performer than Stefano...he's just not as cute!!!

you're quite a very opinionated person, and it's quite surprising that you're not really into watching and waiting for a good performance to get into raising your goosies. so i may lower it down to you just being a 'fan'. it's good to know people like you are actually existent in this site, considering the whole lot of guys and gals putting too much extras and still being insensible and redundant. anyways, the judges in this season are quite biased to what the contestants should be doing to please them rather than doing what they think will make the most out of what they have. it's very unfortunate for someone like casey to be among the bottom three considering the majority of the fans' roar in the audience rooting for him.
I agree with Pia being the strongest among the girls, and maybe even among the whole top 11. she may have the best voice quality in the pack and has a great chance of winning, given that fans do not only vote for a guy with less talent and more good looks, like when Lee DeWyze (not sure about the last name's spelling) whose name i almost forgot upon typing this sentence. it's very surprising that Casey has belonged to the bottom three. maybe there's some kind of error in the vote counts, or maybe there's some vote manipulation going on. in any way, the fans, mostly, and even the judges, were very upset about the result. you could see in jennifer's face that she's quite frustrated with casey being the one to be eliminated.
anyways, as far as this discussion is concerned, and we've really gotten quite far from its original essence, kendra chantelle is the one paul did a duet with on the song "blackbird" by the beatles, and she also sang "georgia on my mind" on the wild card episode before getting out of the contest with Naima and Ashton qualifying through. then again, you're not an avid fan of AI, but it's worth listening to, really.
