to earn a living or stop living?

About 2000 Filipino nurses worked in Libya but about 1600 of them chose to stay in Libya despite the commotion there. Aside from the reason that their employers wont release their passports, they also don't have any choice at all. They think it better to be in a danger zone earning a living or more because of hazard pay, than go back home in the Philippines, with no job awaiting them here. It's a very tough decision to make but most of them chose to stay for the sake of their families needs, and just to survive in this world that has it, "survival of the fittest"... How about you lotters? Which would you choose? Or do you think you'd still have a choice?

The employers are being very nasty to the Filipino nurses that are working in Libya. Each worker should hold her passport and decide what to do: go back to the Philippines for safety or stay in Libya and take a risk. Most of the nurses are staying to still get money their family need to have in the Philippines. If I was one of those nurses I would stay and take that awful risk or get a nursing job elsewhere in the world. It would be lovely to find a nursing job somewhere safe.

they made a very tough decision to stay. Some of those who stayed though feels that they might not be able to find another job if they leave libya. Some are already of age that they reckon it wouldn't be easy for them to look for another job if ever they leave libya.

It is so sad to hear about those nurses. I am not sure what I would do if i was to face such a situation. The greater chances are i'd come back to my country because you life is in danger out there, coming back to home will at least ensure you are safe. One can totally make living out something at least.

Some of those nurses opted to stay but they let their family went back to the Philippines. It's a pretty tough situation, you are in a hazard zone and alone. Some just wanted to secure their family's safety, and just continue earning a living in a dangerous area. Real sad and difficult situation. :(

Wow, that would be terrible to be in such a situation that those were your choices. I honestly do not kwow what I would do if I had to decide. It would maybe depend on why I went there to begin with. If it's just earning money- that can be done anywhere.

Some of the nurses who chose to stay are over age if I may say. They are about 40 years old and beyond. So they thought they wont land a good paying job here with the current economic situation. There are about 18000 new nurses this year. So they reckoned, it would be better to stay. It's really a tough decision to make. :(

Libya is headed towards lawlessness. If I was living in Libya and was given the chance to come home, I will come home.

Those are some brave people out there. Well, they didn't really have choice but, still, you have to appreciate how brave and hard-working they are.
