Someone posted it on FB... I was in shock to see that posted. So I had to look for myself and one of Hollywood's most beloved icons has passed away. I've included a link to the article http://www.people.com/people/package/article/0,,20261725_20216605,00.html She passed away this morning peacefully according to the article. Here's also a list of her films and tv work she's done since atleast the 1940's http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000072/

That was one thing I admired about her is that even as she aged and did less work she always kept herself up appearance wise.

You know I'm not even sure that I heard about this! That is sad but she had a very good career and people will remember her for that career. She was one of the most famous people that seemingly every generation knew about.

Last of the good ones. Just think...who is replacing these celebrities? I mean, will Lindsey Lohan, Christine Agulair etc...will any of those be remembered like Taylor and those from her era are now? Is Brad Pitt going to be "remembered and admired" like the handsome stars from that era? Sorry, Jeff Bridges is not going to be "the next John Wayne" and Nicole Kidman isn't anywhere near Liz Taylor. We got nothing but a bunch of mud-water for celebrities now! So Sad!!

I loved a lot of her movies. My kids love National Velvet. And my daughter remembers her being Wilma Flintstones mom in the FLINTSTONES movie. She was wonderful!

It was sad to hear that she had passed away. However, this one was a little bit easier for me to deal with than some of the celebrity deaths that we've seen in the last several years because of the fact that she was an older woman. It is sad to see the icons disappearing from earth, but it is great that they were able to leave a great legacy behind that the younger generations will have the opportunity to enjoy.

I was quite sad to hear the news and am still following her story on so many stations. I loved her acting! She and MJ were so close and I just found out today that they met because she was at one of his shows years ago and walked out. So he called her and cried thinking it was because she did not like his performance. She explained that it was not his performance that cause her to leave but visibility.
So after they chatted for 3 hours they bonded somehow because she too was sort of forced into the industry at a way too early age so that is why them too got along so well.
She will certainly be missed but in a sense I am glad she is no longer suffering. She was sick for a very long time and has undergone so many surgeries. My sincerest, condolences to her loved ones.

Hello snugglebunnies. I saw that she passed away on the news this morning. She was a true beauty. She has lived a very full and stormy life. She was one of the great actress of all times. We are slowly losing the great actors and actresses of all times. The actors and actresses of today can't hold a candle to the ones from the past. They were truly actors and didn't need all the special effects that is in so many of the movies of today. I don't think we will see any more like her.

She had been sick and hospitalized for two months (?) because of heart disease.
My husband shouted this news to me while I was watching tv and he was surfing the net. I was shocked, of course, but took it lightly. I'm not really a fan of her but I love her looks and the Cleopatra was the movie I can always remember that was associated with her.
Well, we all have our time in this world. Hers came. We've got to accept and let go. May her sould rest in peace in heaven.

Sadly another great legend has been taken from us. Not only has the film community lost one of its own, so has the world. Elizabeth Taylor will be missed by so many as she touched so many lives in so many different ways. Some of us will only know of her through her great cinematic achievements. Yet others will remember her for the great charity work she was involved with over the years. A star was born with elizabeth Taylor and she will continue to shine forever in our hearts.
