What exotic food have you tried and you are willing to try??? When i was a little girl, i was asked by a cousin to taste a dish which they cooked. I took a bite and thought of it as tasty and peanut buttery. When i asked him what it was and told me that it was dog. During that time we were on vacation in baguio where the selling of dog's meat is quite rampant (baguio's climate is cold so people there consume dog meat because it makes them feel warmer). After that i have not eaten a dog eversince and from then on i make it a point to ask first what the food offered to me is made from before i eat it. Also, i remember during my younger years, we used to catch frogs in the rice fields. I remember my aunt would either fry or cook the frogs with tamarind soup. Frog's meat tasted just like chicken. It's odd eating it for the first time but you'll get used to it after sometime. :p

Hi Kabayan! Welcome to Mylot! I may say I am moderately adventurous! I grew up in the province and my parents used to feed us with ararawan (an edible insect found on rice fields)and frogs (yeah you are right it tastes like chicken and I liked it fried, it is crispy to the bones!) I was also exposed to street foods like isaw (chicken intestines). And on our last trip to Palawan last year, I get to eat tamilok or the mangrove worm. It is not actually a worm but a mollusk. And also crocodile meat. It is yummy like a typical beef. So far those are my food adventures and I am still up to the challenge to eat some exotic foods in the future!

Well I am currently from Binanonan, Rizal and it is just a the next town after Angono. I am not really that adventurous, I sometimes eat it because I am up for the challenge. If ever I visit it, I think it is because of the art gallery and not the restaurant!

i haven't tried the ararawan, the crocodile meat and the mangrove worm yet but i really do enjoy the typical filipino street foods (except for the chicken head). if you are still up to the challenge do try visit balaw-balaw. it's an art gallery and restaurant located at angono rizal. they serve an array of exotic dishes the ones i couldn't imagine myself swallowing. lol i was once there but i did chicken out. ended up just looking at the gallery instead. :D

I suppose I can be classified as a picky eater. If I know an animal is a pet I would not dream of trying to eat it or let alone eat it. Some people are adventurous and enjoy it very much. I am so picky that if something sounds funny to eat, I won't even try it, lol.. I know it is a terrible way to live but something I have not been able to overcome.

There are some things that I would never eat for instanse rabbits, cats or dogs. I keep them as pets in my home and I simply couldn't imagine eating one of those animals. To me they are pets and definately not food. I don't like the idea of eating bugs either, and I don't think that I would ever try that. Aside from that I am open for different kinds of food and I like to try new kinds of food when I visit another country or a foreign restaurant in my own country. The most exotic food I have eaten so far are frogs and kangaroo meat. I had frogs in a Thai restaurant and my ex-boyfriend once cooked kangaroo meat for us. There is a restaurant in my country that sells exotic food like snake meat or crocodile meat. If I get the chance to visit that restaurant I might try try one of their exotic dishes.

I would try the frog meat, but the idea of killing a loving and friendly dog is beyond me. I couldn't eat dog meat if someone payed me. Well maybe but it would have to be a heck of a lot of money. That's just a terrible thing.

Lol. it was mental torture for me at that time believe me. there was even one time in my childhood that i was bitten by a dog and i swear, i honestly thought that me eating another dog's meat was the cause. hehehe. it did taste good but i would definitely won't eat it again. it's enough that i have been fooled once. won't fall for that prank again.
