Hello cg and welcome to myLot. I believe that a person should wear what is appropriate for the situation. I wouldn't wear a dress to go mountain hiking nor would I wear jeans to a dress up function as a fancy dinner. Nor would I wear jeans to sabbath worship services unless that is the best that I had. We are to wear our best at that time. I don't think that Christians should dress like Lady Gaga does at any time. The way we dress does reflect back on God. But I don't believe that any church should dictate how to dress. That is between you and the Holy Spirit.

According to the Bible " Whatever comes out of the mouth, it's your heart that speak"
The same principle applies to your clothing. Your clothing shows your state of mind.
It doesnt mean you have to be dressed like a nun ot put on a tie all the time. but just remember that as a Christian you represent someone.

yes i agree people should look at you and see the christian that dwells in you. some people believe you should dress like a nun but i believe you can still wear certain clothes and still look fabulous. If you are a young unmarried person surely you would want to wear something that will make someone see you and be attracted to you. because as much as some people may think, the face is and attire is the first attraction to an admirer then the personality of a person.

A true Christian is render to follow aproper way of dressing especially on women in accordance to the waht the bible has commanded to us.
1Timothy 2:9-10 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobrienty; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls or costly array;
But(which becometh women professing godliness)with good works.

Church is a holy place , a highly respected one. If given a sample like going to president's house to meet the head of the states, are you going to wear denim or false hair.I believe you will not do that instead you will find a way to look for dress that will fit the occasion, you will for sure prepare the best for that event. Even you do not see GOD,you must give the highest respect for HIM above all others here on earth. He just created the president why respect him more.It is not to argue with what to wear but it is in you how you will face your CREATOR. You are going to hear the words of GOD coming from the holy scriptures which is the food of our soul that strengthens us to keep on going with our struggle here on earth. In front of the altar, GOD is standing there for sure watching us and so be the best of yourself. If you can buy pants for ordinary occasion why not save an amount for the right dress in that special moment for HIM.He is not discriminating but if you can afford why take it for granted.

As it was stated in the Bible, "Sing to the lord, bless His salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nation. His marvelous work among the people. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name, bring an offering and come into his courts. WORSHIP THE LORD in HOLY ARRAY, tremble before him, all the earth."

yes you would want to wear something that is deemed appropriate but what if you are new to church and only have certain clothes. the lord said come just as you are.
he also said render your heart not your garment.

I have to say I disagree. God isn't looking for you to put on a "show" for him just on Sundays.

you are right. you should just come as you are and praise your God no matter what. What do you think about some religion or denomination that disagree with their female members wearing pants?

I personally have a hard time with people who wears jeans, sweats, etc. to church. Jeans and tee shirts seem to be common wear in most churches with young people and I find this very disrespectful to both the church family and God. I know that many people disagree with this concept, but I would not expect anyone to meet with the Queen of England in jeans and tee shirts, so I do not understand why they feel that it is okay to go to God's house in such attire. Think of the church as the Holy home of Christ and you might reconsider how you look at the dress that is worn in the building.
I just recently had a large discussion about this with my daughter as she seems to want to follow the other kids and wear jeans and I will not allow it! I believe that God expects us to respect Him in His House!

i have to disagree with you. i don't think what you wear matter. if its jeans you have then wear it. as long as your main aim is to give god praises then i do not see a problem with that. We should understand that some people refuse to attend church because they are concerned about what people may say about what they wear.

To be Christians is to be like Christ. God want us to cover ourselves and not just on Sundays. But living in this world is hard to be different because of the looks you get and how people would respond to you. Its still no excuse, I'm learning from everything and taking one step at a time.

its really hard to be a christian. and probably thats why some people refuse to.
they might fear giving up most if not everything.

Jesus came to set the captive free! In the bible, Jesus always met people right where they were! As long as someone doesn't wear something that maybe a distraction! Example; tight and revealing, the bible says to come as you are! So go find a church that will except you as Jesus would! Many of the Calvary Chapels which are all over the country don't have any dress codes except what I mentioned above (tight and revealing) and you can't blame them! Our focus should be on Jesus!!!

a pants cannot be too short but a skit can so why do some church ask their members not to wear pants? Dp you see anything wrong with wearing pants.
